    The first Honda Trail Bike

This is a very rare early honda I just picked up. It is a 1961 C100T which is the first honda trail bike. It is amazingly complete and the only thing wrong is the front fender (not supposed to have one). Notice the straight pipe with no muffler , that is something that changed very quick after importing these to the U.S.

Thanks! The story is that Honda dealers were taking the c100 cub 50 and modifying it by removing the front fender and adding bigger rear sprockets, smaller seat, rack on the back etc... to make trail bikes. Honda found this out and started making a production trail model the C100T. I believe My bike is one of the earlier dealer modified trail bikes.

Nice bike JJ! I have one a year or two newer...The Trail 55. It's pretty cool. Mine has a little bitty front fender.

    Helluva bike!

Didn't Honda offer a Trail 50 and later the 55? Man those bikes were what fueled my current motorcycle passion. Almost all the farmers where I grew up used both (mainly the CT90's) for field work. Many of my friends were those "lucky" farmer kids who had 'em.

The Trail 55 that I have is a tank...I can see why farmers and hunters love them.

    pictures in the seat

WOuld you mind taking a few pictures of the seat to show how it is attached to the tank? I have an early passport in the same design and need some guidance on how it is put together.

I will get pictures of the seat tomorrow. It is attached just like a ct70 with a front hinge. The seat does not have a release though, it just rests on the gas tank. joe
