Those modifications were done after the fact, as the bike didn't come that way from the factory. The JDM Dax had a removeable front end, but it's a removeable steerer tube, not the frame. Interesting bike though..Originally Posted by captainkettel

I am getting rid of my 1970 HONDA CT70 motorcycle. This is a VERY RARE take apart version of the CT 70. The bike separates for transport to far away places where the bike must be made smaller for storage. I was told that these were used to stow in airline planes. As you notice in the photos the bike has a extra long seat to accommodate two riders and has rear foot pegs. The bike is taken apart at the breakdown coupler. VERY unique! This is the only one I have ever seen! This would make a very desirable restoration project. The rear taillight and headlight bucket are missing or were not installed. When the motorcycle is separated there is a plug to connect both halves. Only the right front brake lever is present so the only connection to make it two pieces is to uncouple the throttle cable from the carburetor. Motor runs good. There is a hole in the head pipe on the exhaust. Starts right up, shifts fine. Has 3 speed auto. Please view photos and email with questions. BILL OF SALE ONLY! Will help to obtain lost title paperwork from original owner. This is a one of a kind motorcycle! MORE PHOTOS OR INFO ON REQUEST! Cell 360-808-0819
Or check thread on this site dated 12-31-2005. Search key word "two piece"
Probably letting her go a little too cheap but, I need the room. Thanks for taking a look!...captainkettel...

I NEVER stated that this was or is a Factory Modification. In the post from last year 12-31-2005 Volksworker made this post that may clear up any misconceptions you might have:
"I used to have a trail 90 that split in half for use in aircraft. The mods were done by a company based at the orange county airport in Cal. They took new bikes and cut them. They usually installed break apart connectors for the harness somewhere also. It was a neat bike and they were sold worldwide. Commercial airline pilots were big customers. Just pull it out of your DC 8 and drive into downtown Tokyo, or Paris etc etc.... That looks like one to me."
I certainly wish it WAS a Factory job! It would be worth much more than any of us could imagine. But I have never been able to confirm or deny whether this is a aftermarket job or not.
A similar bike in really nice shape only brought $355 on e-bay 2 weeks ago.I thought it would sell for a lot more than it did. I should have bid on it but didnt because of the distance it was from me.
It has an ST70 vin

ST70's did have a removeable front end, but it wasn't hinged on the frame, but rather had a quick release on the steerer tube.Originally Posted by TrailPunisher
Getting back on topic, I wish the seller the best of luck, as your asking price is on par with the market.

Edgrimly
"Today is a great day outside"
3 CT70's, 3 ST90's (73,74,75), 2005 "Chinese Knockoff" 50 (read 70cc), 64 C200, 72 GT380, 72 MT50, 81 XR100, 84 XR350, 85 ATC350X, 85 ATC250R, 85 Nighthawk CB650, 83 V45,

The ATC honda is a THREE wheeler! The CT70 is a two wheel motorcycle. So it is really hard to compare the two. Like oranges and apples. Sold that motorcycle quite some time ago. Hope it is all restored by now. Still have my 1971 Saphire Blue CT70 though...captainkettel...
