    engine identification help.

    i have a 4 down motor how can i tell what year and make the engine is?

    What is the number on it? Look down by the front sprocket.

    quick search on the web says an XR50R year 2000-2003

    i check it with a xr50 I have thats a 2003 and it was the same first 5 digits. any idea how its 4 down? is there a way to change it back to three up or one down 3 up. are there tranny kits out there?

    I suspect that complete shift drum assemblies still interchange between 49cc cases (that includes the 72cc variants found in CT70s) and that's all you need to change shift pattern.

    so all i need is a shift drum? where can i find a stock three up shift drum?

    The latter ct's have netural at the bottom and 3 up. 91 to 94 for sure
