When you kick it does it feel like its slipping? If you kick it slow does it spin the engine over? A worn clutch will cause slipping and wont spin the engine over properly.
Put my 1982 Z50 back together. Trying to start it but the kickstarter is not right. The spring mechanism doesn't seem to work to recoil the kickstarter. Also when I kick it over it doesnt turn over the motor enough to start it. I just had it apart and inspected everything. Nothing appeared broken or bent. When I put on the kickstarter arm I noticed that the shaft doesnt seem to be all the way in. Any suggestions? Dont want to take apart motor again.

Keep On Truckin'
No the kick starter turns the engine over. It isn't slipping but it seems like isnt engaging enough to give the motor enough spin to fire. The kickstarter doest recoil either.
