    Refurbish wiring harness questions

I noticed that the harness on my cl70 has a ton of corrosion which may be causing me not to get spark. Rather than cleaning it I was thinking I could splice and replace all the connectors and rule the harness out as a possible problem. I have been unable to find the connectors that plug one wire into 3 bullet connectors. Any idea where I can find these or a substitute? any recommendations on what to do with the harness? I have heard of people soldering their terminals together but I want to be able to disconnect things without cutting all the time.

    Thanks

So are you gonna just build another complete harness using yours as a template? That would probably save you a lot of grief having all new wires and connectors.

I think it would be hard to find all the different colored wires. I have two complete cl70 harnesses...the wires are good they just need to be stripped back past the corrosion/ trimmed and new connectors crimped on.

Radio Shack or any Electrical Supply Shop has wiring, Just as an FYI if you wanted you see it before ordering from an online supply house and ever need new wiring. You just need to match the guage...If you are not going for a 100pt resto, the color doesn't matter if you can't find exact matches to the original.

I made a new wiring harness for a vintage pontoon boat several years ago because a new harness was not available anymore for that old of a boat...I just labeled the wires individually for all the electrical...There was a lot with all the lighting, pumps, guages, stereo, injector alarms and two motors. I also made a paper chart showing what each wire went to since there were some wire colors I could not match from 1972.

If you have a known good harness, all the better.

never thought of labeling them. I have a hard enough time as it is figuring out what goes where though...My problem might even be that I had it hooked in wrong, I really wish someone by me had an original one of these I could look off of. some of the wires are faded making it difficult to follow a diagram.

someone has for sale a NOS harness, but im not ready to shell out for that..although it might be worth it.
