Finally!! A Honda CL100 Luggage Rack

Hello,

After a year of looking, a CL100 luggage rack showed up using the "Followed Search" technique on EBay. It was a little rusty . . . no, a lot rusty but complete and straight. And I only paid $40 USD Buy It Now with free shipping which is an absolutely amazing price. All of the remaining chrome came off in the blaster cabinet but it's looking good in gloss black and I should be able to get it installed tomorrow. They wanted $80 USD for a silver powdercoat but the rust pits would have detracted from that finish. The rattle can black is looking good so far and the gray primer underneath solved some of the pitting problem.

Good for you!!!! Now if I could only find a rack for my ST90. Tell me more about this "followed search" on fleabay. I'm not familiar with that.

This rack is of the "Triple-A" brand and funny that you should mention it - this CL100 rack also precisely fits a CB100 and tada . . . . . An ST90!!!

So run a saved "Followed" Ebay search for all three of those bikes and something will eventually turn up. You will find how to do this in the Advanced settings for general searches and a while back I had a dozen or more searches running for various bike related things.

Just be ready to leap for a purchase on things the Followed Search offers you. If you are looking for things then it's a guarantee that somebody else is, too. Fortunately for me, this rack was on a low priced Buy It Now that I nabbed in a nanosecond.

There was a guy selling an ST90 rack on ebay for almost a year, however, he had it listed as a ct70 rack. I informed him of the mistake, and he just wanted to argue. Someone finally bought it @ $225 + $53 shipping! :43:

Rick how did you find out the connection of the rack fitting the CB100, CL100 and........... ta da....... the ST90? Where did you research this?

Hello Diceman,

The answer to your question is easy. The Triple-A folks production stamp what the rack fits into a structural piece of the rack. It's there for all to read in two different places - embossed into an upright on the left and an upright on the right.

I'm sure I could have written that last sentence better but hopefully you get the picture.

Not really what I was asking Rick...... Where did you find the information that said this rack would fit a CB100, CL100 and a ST90? Something online or ???

It's stamped into the metal of my luggage rack. The rack that I recently purchased and the two other Triple-A racks I have on my two ST90 bikes all say the same thing. I could take any of these racks and swap it to these other bikes - no need to do any online research here. My own personal experience reigns supreme and confident about these racks and these bikes.

I suppose I could post a picture of the embossed words but . . .

I follow you now Rick. Didn't quite get what you were saying at first. Thanks for the info. Isn't there a number associated with the rack? (my research indicates one).

Sorry for the miscommunication on my part.:13:

Could you post a photo of the finished project? I am working a few myself
TIA

Here you go. This is the Triple-A rack on my CL100 and it is not normally black. Beggars can't be choosers and the chrome on this rack was in bad condition when I got it. So the rack got media blasted back to bare metal and painted in semi-gloss black. The embossed numbers that I mentioned above are not easy to see in this picture.

The rest of the bike has the standard issue 1970's patina in its original paint and I ride on its original seat still in very good condition. The bike was a $200 purchase with a stuck piston. Less than 24 hours of soaking freed up the piston. A new battery, a carb rebuild and two new tires later and it has been running perfectly ever since. Eh' . . . the clutch plates stick to each other a little and this is the way the bike reminds me that I need to ride it more often.

I'm looking at buying one that looks to be for the cl/cb 100 st90 . It says triple a and is stamped 1006 below that. Can anyone confirm that it is the correct one? thanks

If you look at farmdog's pictures above...#15, you can see the triple A and 1006.
I think you've found the correct rack...better snatch it quick.

Excellent find!! Does it have the cross pieces that tie the rack to the rear fender? Excellent price, too. I've very nearly lost my mind in an EBay bidding war for these.

yes it has the mounts. I really hope it fits because the guy selling it didn’t know what it was off of. The chrome is in rough shape so it will most likely be painted since I’m sure the cost to Rechrome would be too high. I also had to pay $40 in shipping
