Anyone find or use different side badges on their CT after a rebuild? The ones that should normally be used say that the bike is not to be used on roads or highways. I have left them off mine for now, didn't want the local sheriff to read them when I got a vin check for my title...

That verbiage is cause for concern, imho. When installing fresh sidebadges, I'd use a set that doesn't have those troublesome words...and set aside a "correct" pair, for future installation. Covering the offending words is okay, too... but I can't do anything the easy way.:34:
I found someone that made me some custom badges. I didn't like the fact that the original ones state not for road or highway use. I also didn't like the stuff about modifying the muffler. If anyone is interested in a set of these let me know I will steer you in the right direction..

I'm not a law expert by any means, but I think the VIN tag stating that the vehicle conforms to all laws, at date of manufacture, overides the side badges on the CT70K0/HK0 models.:noidea:
I would highly advise not mentioning those badges to the DMV/tag agency when getting a tag or title though.lol

When I got mine titled and tagged the other day the woman behind the counter asked me if it had any stickers stating that it could be used on the roads and highways. I told her that the sheriff just looked it over while doing a vin check and signed off on it and that she had previously issued me tags for another one I had. She handed me a new title, plate and tags and I left. I had left the side badges off just in case. I will be installing the ones above that I had made and keeping the original type I have for future use if needed.

That kind of response is only too typical. I'd have been tempted to ask her if the car she drove to work had them. Wouldn't have done so. That'd be about as clever as pissing-off the dentist:wacko:

I get what you're saying and used to share that opinion but, not so much anymore. To be clear, counter "help" can be royal P.I.T.A. It's the "why" that matters. It's a shite job that pays nothing and comes with zero perks. The ones making all of the rules (to rake in gigabucks) all remain safe under their rocks, like the cockroaches. Meanwhile, the counter clerks are basically powerless, human shields; at most they pass along a hearty "f******u" when their frustration level reaches critical mass. Then, you get nowhere.
Since adopting this view, I've found that going out of my way to be courteous has ended with better results than the old way. Still have to shop your DMV branch office and personnel. Doesn't hurt to mind your timing. Midweek, first thing in the morning, seems to be best for finding a clerk in a good (less sour) mood and some are basically decent folks, given a little encouragement. That said, there will always be those who are truly incorrigible...just gotta avoid them. :brick:

Good Point! I try to do the same...I try and be as nice as I can, at least until I realize we have reached the point of no return. By then it really doesn't matter...
