Not so Grim

Couldn't sleep. Took the Grom out. Went for breakfast 130 miles from home. It handled the roads well. Kept the speed in the 40/50 range for 6 hours. It acted like it didn't care. Overall it was a smooth ride with no issues. It got 125 mpg

I have owned my Grom for 2 years and enjoyed it. Last week I sold it. Not because there was anything wrong just had too many small bikes and didn't ride it enough. Going to miss it a little but now I don't have to split riding time between it and my CT70.

Its amazing how these little 40+ year old CT's take preference on which bike will go first. Now you have a little green left over to upgrade the CT a little if you want.

I know it's never easy to let one go, and that was a very nice bike to have to part with. But when they're not getting ridden, you have to decide if they're necessary. Kinda makes you sad when they're just collecting dust. Let them go to someone who can show them the love.

FWIW, I agree...as in "been there, done that, have the (closet full of) t-shirt(s)" The realization seems to just show up one day, unannounced, and tap you on the shoulder, doesn't it?

I remember when you bought it. You had just sold your HK0. You asked me on the phone if you should get the "white one", but you weren't sure about the color. I think I told you to take it outside in the sunlight and you would know then if you liked the color. I should have gotten the salesman's commission.lol

I'm sure some of you had seen my other posts, unloading a '94 mod CT in favor of a Grom for "the wife". I picked up a used '17 with 14 miles on it, and have put more miles on it than she is so far. I still have my modded '93, and will always keep that due to sentimental value, having built it up myself to my tastes, but when faced with the choice between the two, the Grom wins out. Only time I take the CT is when the wife and I go for a ride together. The CT probably gets way more attention, and is more unique, but I guess the rider position and comfort of the Grom appeal to me. I'm 6' 3", and put a Corbin seat on the Grom, which helped immensely. The E-start is great, and the bike overall just feels tighter and more refined, which is to be expected, I suppose.

Just my thoughts and feedback. Don't mean to hi-jack the thread. I don't see m(any) posts in this section. Like others said, best to let someone else put the bike to use if you aren't. The CT's, being collectible like they are, I also would have a tougher time parting with.

Stock-vs-stock, it's no contest. The MSX125/Grom is a road-oriented machine with close to a half-century of R&D time. Of course, there's no folding-up the bars and hauling one inside another vehicle. The newer bike is a commodity, a depreciating asset, at this time. We'll have to wait another 25 years to see if that changes. For now, the CT70 is iconic, an appreciating collectible. The Grom is a rider; need replacement kinutin valve, visit the nearest Honda dealership. If I had to choose a purely stock bike, the Grom would get the nod. In the real world, however, there's a third option...transforming a machine into what you want. And, it's possible to build a CT70 into something that outperforms a stock Grom, hands-down...I'm talking about total performance, not just top speed. IMO, it boils down to personal preference. The one you prefer is the better choice. Good to have options, isn't it?
