High idle after replacing carb

So on my newest bike (71 CT70), it had a cheap chinese carb and the throttle felt like it had a handfull of sand tossed in there.

On my other bike (71 CT70) it had the same carb when I got it and ran pretty bab. I replaced that carb with a new replacement carb from CHP and also replaced the throttle cable with the longer one. Bolt on bike runs awesome.

So I try the same thing on my newest bike, new carb from CHP and the longer cable. I take tge throttle apart, clean everything up and grease it up, install new carb with the new cable and the bike is revving to the moon, seems like the cable is just too short.

I’ve tried messing with the throttle adj on the cable and carb, air/fuel nothing helps. If I take the throttle apart so there is no tension on the cable it seems to run best.

I’ve verified the cable is the longer one.

Any suggestions??

Friend sent me this pic on FB.

Had a friend with exact same issue - we stared at each other for probably 1 hour trying to figure it out. Slightly different throttle assembly, but at the end of the day, same problem - assembled wrong and cause crazy high idle.

Glad you got it fixed!
