Here’s my ‘71 Ct70. I’ve been hesitant to post a photo of it for a few months now because I’ve been waiting to get it “finished”. I realize that’s not coming for a while. I first tried to build it to be almost a mini Adventure bike so to speak. I’m putting a set of Pirelli tires and takegawa handlebars within the next week or so. A few more kepspeed and g-craft accessories to come as well. But....here it is...for now.

I bought this 1969 KO about a month ago from a West Texas rancher. I'm planning to upgrade the suspension and it definitely needs brakes. Probably recover the original seat and replace the butchered handlebars. Also, the switchgear is MIA so those need to be sourced. The good news is that the PO installed CDI..the bike runs great! I'm still undecided on painting it. I painted over the original, faded paint on my '71 Triumph and now I regret it.

If you repaint it, you might be afraid to ride it where you want. The best bike to have is the one that you can ride without worries.

I agree 100% on the paint. The other things will be done solely for their usefulness in keeping it on the actual trails. I'm having a blast!

Heres some pics of my baby fresh back from an amazing mud run. I love using these bikes for what they were made to be used for! I can honestly say that these bike will plow through mud and water over 1 foot high! :D
I lov it you drove that ct70 like you own it!!

Somehow this one made it to Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada. Here’s the sellers description and details.

These days, they'd be referred to as "gray market" machines, imported by individuals...legally, with a few exceptions. That's how Daxes made it into the US; most of those were purchased by people in the military and many of them are found still wearing ID stickers, from the bases where the buyers had been stationed. It used to be easy, especially for servicemen...Uncle Sam would transport belongings, including cars...back home, at the end of the service commitment. Anyone could could import a bike, as long as they were willing to pay the shipping costs. Things changed drastically in 2006, all kinds of hoops to jump through...corporate politics bullshit that I'm not going into. Still, newer bikes still make it here. I know of someone who imported a Kawasaki KSR110 that was manufactured after 2006...it must've been "accidentally" packed in with a shipping container of other stuff.;) From what I've seen, Canada is less ridiculous when it comes to importing vehicles.

Here are my three bikes that I restored over the last 1 1/2 years, with help from this site.
1972 K1, originally Candy Yellow Special now Candy Ruby Red:

I then did a 1971 K0 in Candy Saphire Blue:

My last one is a 1971 HK0 4 speed in Candy Emerald Green. It was originally Candy Blue Green:

The whole team:

All are built to look stock but have 88cc big bore kits, high volume oil pumps and CDI ignitions; they are all also titled and registered.

Amazing builds. I wish I could find an early 70s bike to bring to that kind of factory look. Here’s my 84 bike (I’m in Canada) before and after.

88cc stage two with Race head, HD clutch, HD oil pump, factory three speed semi auto. Titled for the road. Just a little low speed cruiser
