Ya, I got it. I was holding just a slight hope that it could actually be NOS. I plan to unwrap it and take some pics when I get it...post them up and ask that very question...is this NOS.

If it's a rebuild, they sure did a nice job...new parts, new bolts, beautiful threads even.

The blue markings are what make me think it COULD be NOS.

If it's NOS...that would really be somethin! I'd be tempted to just frame it :)

The engine sure looks like it was mounted at some point...there is a gouge in the mount. Also, honda never shrinkwrapped them although the seller could have done that to keep it somewhat clean. The blue dots are encouraging. I purchased a brand new NOS head and components for my 142 rebuild and they had the dots on it.

I'm hoping to find something to make me believe it was built by honda...maybe a little white sticker on top...like some 50/70 had. IDK...wishful thinking maybe. It may have just been built out of NEW parts...from Honda...and the dots are just the inspection marks on the individual parts.
But...I hope to have it in my garage in about a week...we'll see I spose.

I looked for where you initially offered the 142 for sale...but I didn't find it. Maybe over on PM..?
Honestly, I think that would be a better fit for me. Might have to crack open the piggy bank.

These engines seem like money in the bank to me...can't have too many.

I was wondering if it were nos then would there be some sort of cover over the intake?

Nice score Kirrbby. Thats alot of beans for a motor, but it will hold its value.

If it doesnt have any sequence #'s, wouldnt that mean its an NOS factory replacement?

It would mean that at least that case is a replacement...factory service replacement.

I really think this engine is either, one that was built with new Honda parts...by someone..?
Or, I'm hoping, it may be a actual service replacement engine, right from Honda...NOS.

Hopefully there will be some way to know for sure, when I get my hands on it. But either way, if it's a NEW engine, I'm a happy camper for the price I paid for it.
But the first hurdle is to have it SAFELY shipped. Fedex is usually really good. And, the seller said he is experienced with shipping heavy and fragile things. So I'm feelin pretty good about all that.
