Thats AWESOME!! There isn’t a serial number on the case what does that mean? Do the purple dots mean it’s factory built?

The top of the piston looks clean, and marked STD.
Looking into the dip stick hole...and everywhere else I can see, stuff looks clean and new.

IDK...

The crush washer on the spark plug isn't crushed...but the plug has been fired...engine was test ran.
Not much oil inside...just like...enough for assembly. Looks like there is more oil leaked out during shipping, than what is left inside of the engine.
Maybe it was filled for the test run, then drained (mostly).

I was discouraged when I first opened the package. It looked like dirty oil that had leaked out. But the engine, and that plastic covering was filthy...blackish dust. The inside of the engine, and the oil in there looks clean. The exhaust port has some soot in there, intake port is clean. Every part looks new, with the exception of the spark plug and exhaust port. Blue inspection marks certainly look (to me) like they were put there by Honda. A couple of them are in places that make me think they were made in the process of assembling a entire engine, rather than just assembling a part (for a engine)
I'm just gonna go head and say it...I THINK THIS IS LIKELY NOS!

Now I'm gonna ask it...Could this engine be NOS?? Built by Honda?? At the Honda NICE110 engine building plant??
I think it MIGHT be.

A perfect rebuild might exhibit those properties. A few things to look for or consider. A new honda today that comes from factory does not show any soot because they are not test fired. That might be different back in the say. Look for markings on mount points to see if there is evidence of any use. I have unstamped cases on two of my nice engines because they were built new from parts. I think it’s unlikely its nos but it may very well be new from parts. I think the last nice engine rolled off the line in 1991

I'm thinkin that you're right fatcaaat. Pretty sure that all 4 mount points... CT70 mount points...have marks as if this engine was installed in a frame. I'm not sure if they show in the pics.
I didn't pay attention to the extra mount, to see if it's marked up.
But it does seem odd to me that whoever built this engine, built it as if it would be going into a ACTUAL nice110 scooter. They didn't remove the xtra mount...and they installed the gear indicator wiring.
This new engine will be stored for now...no plan for it currently. Maybe someone else will have some info to add.

I have this other engine that I bought used, about a year ago. It was built by Bob, and has around 1500 miles on it. I dug it out last night for a look...

It has some blue markings on it too.

I have a 142 I'd sell...it will come complete...engine, mjn mikuni carb, takegawa intake, takegawa oil cooler, and Over Titanium Exhaust. 3500 plus ship and insurance. It's already jetted and currently in a bike...might have 150 miles on it.
