Here is sunny So Cal $5 a gallon for regular is the cheapest I've seen today. I've seen premium for nearly $6. And they're saying we should expect it to go higher. Got 137 miles per gallon on the last tank on my Monkey. Makes my CT70 seem like a gas hog at 80 mpg. I'm glad I'm on the Li'l Honda forum and not the Lifted F150 4X4 forum.

I'm not into politics or conspiracy theories, but I don't buy any of this. The percentage of Russian oil being produced is a very small percentage compared to total global output. Not enough to tip the balance in my opinion. In the mid 70's when there really was a gas shortage, I remember high prices, long lines, and stations closed. I don't see any stations closing or limits on purchases. Follow the money, we're being taken for a ride.

As America awakens from the corona crap and more demand for fuel goes up, so does the price. I agree, there is no shortage, as of yet, but supply always has to meet demand. Biden has pleaded with other countries to increase production, but they refuse. Why would they refuse, shouldn't they make more money? As usual, we ARE being taken for a ride and our leaders dont care. Someones pockets are being stuffed.

What conspiracy theories are you referring to? You do know, that many "conspiracy theories" over the last 5 years or so, have been proven to be neither conspiracy or theory? You do know that, right? I hope so.

I said I'm not into conspiracy theories. One thing I've noticed is that through the years, a quart of conventional motor oil costs about the same as a gallon of regular gasoline. Today, I can buy a case of 12 quarts of Chevron 10w-40 for $40, which is $3.33 a quart, however, a gallon of regular is over $5.
Fun fact: The large steam locomotives in the 40's and early 50's consumed about 100 gallons of water per mile.

Well, if you know that you're not into CT's, then, you surely know of a few. How about an example? Don't be skeered. It wont hurt a bit if you suddenly discover that you've been bamboozled.

Gas here went from 2.15/gal 14 months ago, to 3.53 just a few days ago, and 4.19 this morning. Its gonna hit 5 sooner than I thought.

No use complaining, just be smart and beat the system when you can. Drive a fuel efficient car and don't drive like a ass, better yet ride your li'l Honda. Don't live beyond your means. Don't charge anything you can't pay off when the bill comes. Forget Starbucks exists. Don't be a lazy ass and order food out. Learn how to cook. Don't be afraid to shop a thrift stores. Learn how to fix things yourself.

Don't stick your head in the sand just because you're not complaining, protesting, blaming someone, or giving up. Use your brain and ignore the hype. Used to be if I wanted to go out to eat, I'd check my wallet and see if I had enough cash to last me the rest of the week. Today you just tap, or swipe and not worry until the bill comes. @20 bucks for a burger, no big deal, delivery fee, no big deal, I'll leave a nice tip too. That's a cool app, try it for free, then only $10 a month. Why fix the flat tire on my old mountain bike, I can get a peloton for $50 down and $50 a month. I saved up $5000 for a used car, but I can put half that down on a lease on a new Claptrap Turbo SUV, and spend the rest on those Air LeBron's I've always wanted. Man, how'd I get a ten grand balance on my Visa. But, hey, the condo I bought in '06 is worth 100 grand more than I paid for it, I can refinance, get cash, and have enough left over to go on that cruise...

Geeze. I'm 56 and I don't really need the life lessons, there ol boy. LOL But, it sounds like you're frugal just as I am. I've worked for everything that I have. Didn't have rich parents or uncles. I just sold my 21 year old Honda Accord and bought a 07 Chevy Colorado for 5k. I'm debt free other than my house that I moved into 18 months ago.
Does an 84 xr200 with an 86 xl250 motor qualify as a lil Honda? It isn't street legal and I really have no desire to ride on the street anyway. Even with gas prices the way they are. I'll manage....

That's a little large for a li'l Honda. But I've had my share of XL's. From 125 to 600. My two favorites were my '82 XL200 pro link, and my street legal '84 XR350. Gave up dirt bikes 10 years ago. I'll be 69 this year, been retired 3 years now, started with nothing, worked hard all my life. Been married for 48 years, in the same house for 35 years, paid it off 14 years ago. (the house, not the wife) I'm debt free, never bought a new car, the only new bikes I ever bought were my '82 CT70 and my '22 Monkey. My I phone is 7 years old, a gig of data will last me 3 months, I wear Kirkland Jeans, never been in a Starbucks, but I currently have 7 cars and 5 bikes, all running and street legal.

Well, at your age I hope you didn't hurt your shoulder patting yourself on the back LOL. I can't imagine living in the same place for 35 years. Longest I lived in one house was 18 years. The one we left when we moved to Idaho.
I just took a very expensive trip. No, not to the gas station. I rented an electric car and drove to DC. With all of the detours to find charging stations it only took 8 days. 10 stops to recharge. I paid the premium for the quick charge otherwise it would've taken 10 days. $60-75 per charge vs. Grandmas Ford Focus at 36 mpg would have been about $350 and 2 fewer nights in a hotel.

The technology and infrastructure isn't quite there yet for the electric car. However, my 2000 Honda Insight has gone 780 miles on ten gallons of gas. I'd be interested to know how the actual range you got compared to what it was advertised to get. In the 90's, Ford built an experimental all aluminum Taurus that weighed the same as a focus and got similar fuel economy. Today, an Accord sized electric sedan weighs as much as an F150. Why, because to go 0-60 in under 4 seconds, you need a 1000 KWH battery which is heavy, so you need a strong structure, and bigger motors, and bigger brakes, heavier suspension pieces, etc. etc. Anyway, this post is about fuel prices. Yesterday, I saw regular at a Chevron for $5.79 a gallon, however, they had E85 for $3.88 a gallon. A good time to be driving that flex fuel Malibu.

A Honda Insight isn't an EV is it, OG? Not comparable. Can ya tow anything with it? Can you haul 1 bale of alfalfa? A ton of alfalfa is out of the question no doubt. I can get 400 miles out of a tank in the Silverado. It goes 0 to 60 in about 6 seconds I can tow 9600lbs and carry 10 bales of hay.
Anyway, it looks like some of our esteemed leaders have the answer for gas prices. Derp.
