    Slipping may be the wrong word...sorry. It is difficult to kick over. Like the valves are not opening at all. Checked the valves / rockers and they are fine. Fuel is dripping out the carb mouth, not the overflow. Just re-re checked the timing and it's dead on.

    1969 Z50 with a 70 cylinder / piston. Kick starter slips...starts after a few tries. Runs smooth, but gas starts flowing out carb intake. Timing seems ok. Thanks

    disconnect stator from harness...connect a lead to black on stator and hold other end to any non painted metal part of the engine. You should get a mild spark...no spark = no ground or a short in the stator. CHECK THE POINTS FIRST. Make sure the wire from the capacitor is isolated properly...

    After several days and four rebuilds of the stator, the engine finally sparked. Started on third kick. Seems shorting the stator black wire to ground (engine) did the trick.
