    Compression question, yet another...

Thank you RacerX and dirtbkr188 -- will look at getting the parts ordered and installed. Just want this thing to run as good as physically possible!

    Compression question, yet another...

Good morning everyone! Last night I was able to spend some time tinkering around again. With the startor removed as well as round cam cover off, I was able to actually understand how the adjuster works. On my 1979 version, I removed the adjuster cap (next to the oil drain plug) and unscrewed...

Gary - thanks for the input. Looks like a 6mm x 112 bolt (long sucker) on the parts diagrams. I'll pull it tonight and take a look.

    Compression question, yet another...

Okay - update for "phase 2" on this help me thread... This past Sunday I was able to pull the left side cover off and remove the flywheel. With the oil drained, I removed the stator assembly, but honestly don't know what I'm looking at. I understand the cam chain and the tensioner (hydraulic)...

Good afternoon all! Bringing this thread back to the top with some additional information with my findings to date. First off, thanks again for all of the input and discussion. Now, when this thread started, I was concerned about my overall engine health and made the assumption that it might...

    High idle after replacing carb

Had a friend with exact same issue - we stared at each other for probably 1 hour trying to figure it out. Slightly different throttle assembly, but at the end of the day, same problem - assembled wrong and cause crazy high idle. Glad you got it fixed!

    Compression question, yet another...

You guys are awesome! The knowledge just amazes me. Now, can you help me drive this to a conclusion? Assuming time (and the wife) permits, by the end of this weekend, I plan on pulling the right crankcase cover to clean both the spinner and oil screen. Once I have the right side open, are...

    WTB: Chrome Grab Handle

racerx - I know we're in an oddball side of the forum, but wanted to give a quick update. I initially did this exactly as described about 2-3 weeks ago with very good results. Your instructions were fantastic - simple and straightforward which is just my style. Then about 3 days ago, while...

    Compression question, yet another...

Morning everyone. Okay - quick update: I move the needle clip from the highest point (richest setting) down 2 spots to the middle setting. Afterwards reset the carb to roughly 1.5 turns out on both pilot air screw and idle screw. Bike was slight bit harder to start and had to use choke when...

    Compression question, yet another...

OLD CT - will test it this weekend if I can't get to it tonight. Thanks! racerx - thank you commenting. I think possibly you misread my original post? Anytime I open the choke (turn it on), the engine instantly dies. Basically, I leave the choke off and kick start it first or second try...

    Compression question, yet another...

sorry again - one last thought: I was told to remove the oil dipstick while the bike was running and see if there was any air movement / coming out. Not sure how scientific this is, but the answer is "yes". While idling, if I remove the oil dipstick, there is most definitely air coming out of...

    Compression question, yet another...

Sorry guys, I have searched and read countless threads with the hopes of understanding the health of my engine, but still need some help. Here are the basics: 1979 Honda CT70 with 2,035 miles and unknown ownership prior to my purchase several months ago. When I bought it, it seemed to idle...

1978 Mod build. Probably slow going

stangconv21 - first off congratulations on the purchase - that's a hellva price! Mines a 1979 and the key switch has only 2 positions (on/off). It came up before and was mentioned that 1977 started the 2-position key switch...

Here you do - using Windows 7, looks like there were 4 updates installed. The odd thing is that they were all related to Microsoft Office 2010 and Microsoft Office 2013. I see that lukelaw1 also have a Microsoft Office 2013 update as well. I'm definitely not a tech guy, so I'm about the end...
