    "Vermont Loophole" closed, or closing?

That's too bad. I got 3 registered in VT, and when the original plate expired I titled them in Texas quite easily. I don't know what it would take now in Texas.

May I ask about my wife's 2009 Honda Metropolitan please? Carb issue

Dadgum wife on her dadgum metropolitan outruns me on my 78 CT70. :(

New here...just acquired an old Trail 70!

Agree on the air filter, take the old one out and clean the carrier before you try to check spark. Don't want to suck a mouse / roach into the valves... And when you get spark, replace the fuel hoses before you start it so that 40 year old rubber doesn't crack and start a fire (been there done...

Can a ct70 be registered as a moped?

In Texas, at least for my 78: If it has blinkers they have to work. They did not look that closely to see if it had a blinker switch... so my first inspection was without blinkers, and passed. It does get inspected / titled as MC not Moped if over 49cc

    1979 ct70 rough Idle

Keep in mind you have high vacuum at idle... which might make it more sensitive to leak at idle. On my 78 the threads were weak, I had to back them up with a nut behind. IIRC.. Yep I just went out and looked at it.

    Another CT70 Spark Dilemma

Congrats on getting it going! I like the idea of a new condenser for the gf... increase her spark!

83 runs great 10 mins tops?

My 78 did EXACTLY the same thing. Ran great until it got hot, then got progressively worse over 5 minutes, and then would not run.. Next day, same thing. Change the condenser. You can't visually detect a bad one. Unless you know how to load test a condenser. Changed mine, zero problems...

    Titling and registration, by state

state-by-state -Texas experience I went through Vermont. I sent them: pictures of bike Pictures of vin (explicity included the "THIS VEHICLE CONFORMS TO ALL FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARDS IN EFFECT ON THE DATE OF MANUFACTURE SHOWN" claim, because of previous questions whether the bike...

    78 Rescue Build

It looked like it was coming from the opening of the cap to the head. I did replace the spark cap, with a new resistor cap. It continued to leak spark. A very unusual symptom! But new condenser eliminated the problem. Thanks for posting! OldCT, that's just what I did. Snipped off about half...

    78 Rescue Build

OK, on to the carburation / ignition problem: After I sorted out the lights, I started riding it around the neighborhood alleys. At first, it ran just great. For several months. Then, it would run great for about 20 minutes, I suppose till it got good and hot, and then it would start missing...

12V is quite easy. The hardest part for me was getting a headlight bulb that fit my bucket. All you have to change is battery, all bulbs including the indicator lights inside the speedo, and the flasher for turn signals. Mine has worked with zero problems since 12/2014. No blown bulbs, good...

Wow, did not realize it had been so long since an update! First, the bulbs... After spending about $50 for all new 6v bulbs and blowing them all in a single ride around the block, I swapped to 12V. Rewired the two 6V batteries in series, replaced all indicator and turn / brake bulbs with 12V...
