z50 bogs or dies when throttle opened

Help please!!--I have an 82 z50r that idles great, but dies if throttle is opened. I have installed new points, plug, and float valve, gapped points, adjusted valves, cleaned carb(twice-just to make sure), and adjusted carb. The bike may run if throttle is opened verrry slowly, but will backfire, bog down, and die if any load is placed on the engine. I'm out of ideas--Any help would be greatly appreciated-Thanks in advance-P.S. has bright spark and good gas flow.

Mtkawboy--I did clean the pilot jet w/wire and also sprayed gumout through it. As for the vacuum leak, I tried putting a thin layer of permatex on the intake between the carb and engine--no change at all. Do you happen to know if a leaky exhaust can cause these symptoms(it recently got a lot louder- I think the muffler is rusted out internally)?

It's running lean. You'll have to figure out what's restricting fuel delivery. Could be one or a combo of: clogged jet, incorrect float level, blocked/restricted fuel screen, pinched fuel line, clogged internal passage, blocked tank outlet, blocked tank vent, needle/seat problem, blocked carb vent.

I think your problem is in the fuel system. Id definetly check the fuel inlet screen. Blown out muffler might lean it out a little but not cause what you have. Try unscrewing the fuel drain if late models have one and see if you have good fuel flow. Basically follow RacerX's advise
