Don't See This Year Too Often

Wow, that's pretty steep... wonder if he'll get that much for it.

Yeah, it is...
However...I've seen `em reach this level over the last couple of years... ultra-low-mileage, pristine, original specimens. The more sought-after pre-`80 models top out at better than double this amount for good reason. The `80-later models are the best riders, in stock form and not seen that often. I could see this example maybe reach mid-to-high teens...if it's been maintained as meticulously as the seller sez. For a buyer wanting a top-notch rider, who lives close enough, the numbers could work. These days, shipping a bike is a $300-800 bill and total cost, i.e. by the time it reaches your driveway matters.

Yeah, I agree that the asking price is kind of high, but it does look decent. I'd bet if you offered 20% less after it sat there for a period of time you could take it home.

I now understand why buyers willingly drive some distance to pick up a bike in decent condition... I only drove about 25 or 30 miles to pick up my FrankenBike back in Dago, acting solely upon impulse and knowing nothing about this whole Mini Trail scene. I'm sure glad I went, though, the return on my investment has been enormous, totally worth every penny... never knew I'd have so much fun blasting down trails on such a small bike. :red70:

Here is a important fact, the parts are VERY RARE and would easily bring close to the seller's asking price if this bike was parted out on fleabay. Just the signals would bring a few hundred! Don't forget the clean titled frame, another $300. The bike appears ALL THERE. $2000 all day long with the title. He may just get the right person that can see the value of a rare 82 survivor and get $2500.

A super-clean, very low mileage, specimen...exactly what I was talking about in #3, above. And, it's an `80 model, which means never having to search for any oddball engine parts that are unique to the `82. Saw an `80s model (can't remember if it was an `80, `81, or `82), with under 50 miles on the odometer, almost reach the $3K mark last year. We all knew that someday the tide would rise for the JH models. It appears that time has arrived. This could be interesting.
