Bikes are in NJ. Yep, he'd do a package deal. Both bikes were running when put away with fuel 5 years ago. (yeah, I know, we've heard it before, but I'm sure). Both bikes have good spark.
HKO carb was cleaned, and as I went to install last night, took a flash light to the tank, and never saw so much gunk. Tank is being cleaned today.
DAX, presently sports a CHP carb. Fuel is so old, the slide is cemented to the carb, and unable to get it free. I might have to cut the cable.
Yikes, the fuel sitting in these bikes over the years is like varnish. Working on it.

That's the kiss of death for these carbs. It might be salvageable for a rebuild, the odds are slim. At worst, there might be a new carb, tank & fuel lines needed. As long as the engine was on the compression stroke (both valves closed) it should have survived the coma unscathed.

Just a general FYI, to anyone reading this, gasoline has become so unstable that, imho, we're now in the era where tank sealer and dry storage are the best survival strategies.

We got lucky, both bikes are running again! Shifting gears, lights work and good to go! As always, thanks for the suggestions.

So whats the ;latest with these?
They sit and await a new home. Brief stint on craigslist created a flurry of activity, no shows, assorted stupidity and aggravation for Andy (owner). They were quickly removed. Anybody need a new bike? I may list them on ebay in the near future.
