Before and After Pics of my 1970 Ruby Red

Found this 1970 KO Ruby Red literally down the street from my house. Thought I would post up a few before and after pics of the restoration. Learned a lot from this site. It had 1500 original miles when I found it at an estate sale. Bike was about 5 miles from the dealership where it was sold new in 1970! No spark, gunked carb, etc. Took it down to the frame, cleaned everything, replaced worn parts, wiring harness, etc. Went the Vermont Title route with no issues when I switched to WA Title. No other bike or car I have ever owned draws more attention. Period. And it is sure fun to ride. :) 2100 miles and counting....

Not a repaint-- Original paint! I just used repeated rounds of cleaner wax to remove the oxidization on the factory paint. I think it spent its entire life in an unheated garage out of the sun. Despite my neighborhood being very close to Puget Sound and salt air, there was very little corrosion on the bike and paint.

That gives me some hope for my silver tag. Right now its in eastern washington waiting on me to get through some z50's. At least its desert and around 6% humidity.

It doesnt look like it has much sun fading, so it probably spent its life in puget sound. :D Some of the desert bikes that are parked up against a barn look like they have been parked at a nuke test site.

Snap the bone on that foot brake and get it set back into place.

dang, your "after" pictures makes me want a ruby red ct70 even more!!!

I have a Blue/Green a Green and 2 1977 Shiny Oranges.

Think I am gunna bastardize the Orange one with crappy paint and make it (kinda) look like a KO Ruby Red

Still kickin myself for selling my Blue KO

Thanks for the kind words on the paint/restoration everyone. And I have already replaced the bent rear brake arm - so no worries there!
