Touch or no touch Z50 K0 Slant Guard

im on the fence as to restore a Z50 K0 slant guard. It’s almost 100% original. It’s been my summer rider for a few years. My original thoughts were to leave it untouched but I’m board and thinking it could be a fun project. The restoration would be back to 100% original as best I can. I love the hunt for old original parts...but not many will be needed. What would you guys do with this little time capsule.

I'm all for keeping them original and completely understand, but I would restore this one mainly because of the tank and I dont think it can be cleaned up without it looking so "tired". Its your bike and I bet you would really enjoy putting her back to her former glory and be glad you did later.

X3...cosmetic restoration, retaining all of the original parts (except for wear items, like tires, brake shoes, cables, chain & sprockets) is still very legit and close enough to "all original" to satisfy most purists...especially the ones willing to pay top dollar for a top-flight specimen.

I suppose it comes down to what you would want to do with it after restoration. All the k0 hard parts are there...Grips, levers, flywheel cover, ignition switch, pat pend muffler with plug, etc.

Its a slant guard, is it also a 'tall bar'?

Oh ya, that one is ready. I've seen this question discussed a few times before, and I always have a opinion. I typically lean toward the "only original once" side...when they're iffy. I think this guy passed the original once stage a while back :)

I'm with kirrbby. Plus it isn't like you have owned it from new. I'd do mine in a minute but would really be best to get another to do instead.

Yeah all good points...she does deserve to return to her glory. I guess it’s what I would want someone to do to me if they could. I don’t intend on selling it after. I’ll just leave it behind for the kids or for someone to get a good deal on when my wife sells it for what I told her I have into (“ only a couple hundred bucks honey”)

I have it's restored twin in yellow (photo) so I was thinking on leaving this as is but again you guys are correct...its too tired looking to leave as is. I’ll post some photos when complete. Thanks
