Thinking about the unthinkable....

I went to a local Honda dealership today and fell in love with the New 2019 Honda Monkey (ABS) $4,199. I really want one but, must sell something to get the cash and room in my garage. I'm seriously considering selling my restored 1969 Honda Z50AK1. It only has 60 miles on it and sits in my garage covered up 99.9% of the time. I'd get more fun out of a new Monkey.
What do you think a realistic asking price would be for my motorcycle? It's titled and plated for street use, Mirrors, Horn, and Speedometer cleanly added too. Has a sealed battery, two keys, owners manual, and original brochure. Full restoration done and professionally painted.
I have some cash in hand and don't expect to get the full amount needed from this sale but, curious what you guys think.

If it were me , I would start it at $4,500 and set Buy It Now to $5K. If you find the right baby boomer who wants to relive his youth with 60 miles and a Clean title...its worth a try.(y)

I've heard so many people express complete joy after buying and driving Honda 's newly designed Monkey. I like it too.:red70:

The fact that that bike is street legal will be a HUGE selling feature. Add the fact that it's beautiful, and done very well...

IDK...tough call. I think it could go $3500 on a good day. $2500 should be easy to get IMO. I think you'll need to go to ebay to find your buyer. And you'll need to try to make shipping easy for your buyer....so someone can just write a check and have a minibike delivered to their door. The right buyer, rich dude, might pay up. Fathers day is a GREAT time to sell too.

I think $2,600 to $3,300 is the target area. Craigslist and Facebook are my preferred selling areas. You have to share too much of your profits with Feebay. It will eventually be listed on all three sites. I already had a local buyer offer $3,000 but, had his Wife veto the deal. I've learned the hard way, always check with the Mrs. first!
I don't mind assisting on the shipping side, as I have done it before. Local is always easier.

A handful of hard to find parts came from you Kirby not to mention, Bob painted it.

Facebook DOES seem to be the latest and greatest.

Last bike I sold on eBay I think cost me $60 + about 20 to PayPal. Vehicles are I think $60 for 2500 and lower. And maybe 120 above 2500...unless that has changed.

Did you just list this on ebay? I thought it may have been yours.

The 2019 monkey is available in red and yellow. The 2020 will be red or blue. So decide what color you want and go from there. The blue is available as a 2019 in Malaysia/ SE Asia only.

2020 release date is October of 2019 (4/5 months from now). Colors Red and Blue. No more yellow.

Don't understand why they don't offer all 3 colors at the same time, nor do I comprehend that they don't offer ABS on both now. Is the blue going to have ABS? I obviously would like the yellow but my excitement has waned after talking to the local dealer last winter, none had come in yet and several were supposedly already spoken for. 4K is alot of coin, who pays list??

I thought the 2019 Monkeys came in ABS and non-ABS in both colors. The Honda website shows the 2020 models as ABS in Red and non-ABS in Blue. I hope that is an error or over sight as I want a blue with ABS. I might try to clarify that with a local dealership. Is the Red one the only ABS version???

That didn't last long. It was snagged up at the Buy it Now price on eBay for $3,400. The buyer is local here in Ohio so, I don't have to deal with shippers and I get cash in hand from the buyer when he picks it up. The only down side is, eBay gets $141.35

I could have put more into the listing as far as restoration details but, in the past when I do, I still get questions that would have been answered simply reading the write up. This was more direct and to the point. I've already talked to the buyer on the phone for nearly a half an hour. Sounds like a great guy and excited to come and get it Wednesday with Cash in Hand.
