Hi does anybody know length of speedo cable ? The one I got from flyboy is 34" .

I'm certainly no Kemosabe, but it looks like about 28 inches, crudely measured. I did not take the headlight bucket apart to accurately measure it but I did account for the length hidden inside as best I could.

Happy to help,

Well I got started on 1 . Looking at the wiring , seems no power to the coil . Checked the off / run switch power on blk no go on blk / w . Does this sound like a bad switch , or am I going about it wrong ?

With the key on, run-stop to run and a good battery you should have six volts on the flat points spring for most of the way around for the flywheel. Disconnect the points wire and recheck for six volts.

6.2 on battery , still nothing on conn. from coil . Checked it today , yesterday was the normal Monterey Bay June gloom drizzle all day . Coil ? all wires are connected , lifted up in case of short .

Can't find what's wrong with 1st bike , is there a easy way to check coil without pulling motor ? Good news 2nd bike squirted a little gas in carb and got a fire . Have not tried much further , want to clean tank , new fuel lines & clean carb . Waiting for gasket set to clean oil spinner . Frame has been bent in around battery box/shock mount . Best way to push back out ? Box will come out with a little force .

There are ohms checks for the coil but I have to say, they rarely fail. However, I have needed to clip back a quarter inch of spark plug wire at the plug cap and reattach - or use a plug wire rebuild kit from Dr ATV. Plug cap resistors also fail open . . . no spark is possible. Find out if you have six volts on the flat points spring. If not, figure out why. Back track along the points wire to find where you pick up six volts again. Fix that connection to get six volts to the flat points spring.

@farm dog, you said the flyboy brake cable would work, but are you happy with it? He seems to have the only grey cable for the ST, but I don’t want to buy junk. My broken cable looks to be 41” sheath, 47” overall.
