Looking for an complete engine or at least a short block. Does not need to run but must turn over
Was actually looking for a sl70e vin. But did want to keep sl shift pattern. I have an "H" motor tore apart. But it has a junk mitibushi assy. and needs head, cyl. What, specifically, are you after...at the minimum? I ask because the 4-speed/6v lower ends are all the same, except for the serial numbers (duh), the CT70 shift pattern, and the CL70 alternator. The CT70H version is the most plentiful. The 4-speed alternators physically interchange, you just need the 4-speed crank to fit a 4-speed flywheel. IOW, unless you need an SL70 LH case half, for the SN, you could piece-together an SL motor and that might make your task easier than sourcing an actual SL70 lump...which is a fairly rare piece these days.
Thanks for all the great information. Can the H motor be converted to a 1 down 3 up with a new shift drum? It does not have to be a pure motorcycle. But I did want an sl vin number. Also thank you for the CDI informationYeah, that may take some patience. But, you never know when a LH case half with an SL70 sn will pop-up...you only need one. Same applies to the head, except an SL70 head casting is going to be tougher to ID, unless you know the casting numbers.
4-speed alternators do come up, though they bring some bucks these days. An "xrarespares" CDI conversion might be good solution...unless this is a hardcore purist restoration. That kit allows retention of the outwardly stock appearance...also allows the choice of a 3-speed or 4-speed crank. 3-speed cranks & alternators are the same for every 6V Z50 & CT70 3-speed and K1-earlier specimens are cheap & plentiful.
AFAIK, the 1D/3U shift drum can still be sourced as NOS.
L thank you for the reply and the good informationI did have a SL engine, but I sold it recently, and I don't think I have another. There are SL cases FS on eBay tho for 50 bucks shipped...3 or 4, or more.
The mitsu setup is most likely repairable...how bad is it?
Imo, you might do well to sell off the H parts, and wait for a SL engine...good core, to start with.
But it has a junk mitibushi assy
No Im in Las Vegas.Sounds like Darryl Gunderson. Pretty sure he is in AZ.
