I recently came across this bike before it was offered up for sale to the masses. It was too nice to turn down. The previous owner said the frame paint is original but the wheels, engine covers, and brake plates were re-painted. He stayed all the parts are OEM Honda and that some have been changed out.

I need to pull off the grab handle but besides that it appears to be as represented. I did notice the air cleaner housing has a bracket for a rear brake cable.

He also gave me the seat pictured on the truck bed which he believed to be the original? He stated the seat that currently on the bike is a replacement but was a
OEM Honda part?

the bike has around 3900 miles I believe and it came with a title which I was surprised to get. This is the first of 5 CT’s that I received a title with.

It looks like to be that the throttle handlebar is bent inward? The clutch handlebar seems to be fairly straight.

I’m going to make a list of what I need to order to get it cleaned up some.

Nice find!!!
The "original" seat has been recovered. The seat on your bike now is how they're supposed to look.
The paint looks great and so does the chrome from here.

Btw, get that "leaker" battery outta there. They can leak and ruin your paint. I converted my HK1 to the sealed type. Been working great for a few years now.

I am pretty sure my bars were unbent when I got mine. They measured 27 1/2 inches from outter tip to outter tip with the grips on.

The aircleaner was missing on mine, but I remember someone posted here that the HK1 got the brake cable holder(3speeds) on the aircleaner too, but the HK0's didn't.

I can all but guarantee you that this bike wasn't wearing these bars when it left the dealership.

I believe that the spark plug routing to the plug isn’t how it’s supposed to be? I would imagine the coil was changed and the wire was too short.

Can't tell, just by looking at a single photo, if the wire was shortened, or not. Could just be a simple assembly "error". If the HT coil lead (plug wire) is too short, it's easy enough to extend it. These early models had multiple layers of insulation placed over the lead. Thus, the lead can be cut, spliced, soldered, sealed...the work hidden underneath the outer sheathing.

Thanks for the information, I think will will splice and solder. I may try to find some thin wall black tubing to slide over the replacement wire as I have seen that done on a number of OEM machines. Any idea if anyone has sourced out the tubing that fits nicely over the plug wire ?

I did notice that the very tip of the brake pedal pad for your foot just barely make contact with the spark plug guard. Is it possibly the wrong pedal or is it bent ? Did the manuals and autos use the same brake pedal? I’m leary of putting the pedal in the vice and bending it put as it appears it would have to move a inch or so out.

Actually, the majority of HT coils came with thin-walled rubber hose over the plug lead...very durable and excellent for hiding splices.

That brake pedal is way too close to the plug guard. Either the pedal, the frame pivot, or both have been tweaked. Wrestling a brake pedal back into shape...and leaving the chrome plating unaffected... is difficult to do. "Blue wrench persuasion" makes the job easier and the results more precise but, heating the metal bright cherry red to reach the plastic state is the death of chrome plating.

The brake pedal looks like it’s been changed, too clean to be the original. The frame pivot appears to be straight. Looking the the pedal from the top down it appears to make a left turn after the foot pegs. At this point I will pull it off and wrap it in leather and clamp in the vise and try to straighten. Worse case I’ll look for another one to replace it with.

Also, the spark plug wire from the coil is supposed to go to a clip attached to the base of the cylinder and not the way it’s routed correct?

The combination of aftermarket ''plug guard and brake pedal'' may have something to do with the fitment issue.

Gary:

The routing you have there is what I am familiar with. I wanted to make sure that Honda didn’t change the way it at some point.

I am so SORRY. They are actually 25 1/2 inches from handgrip tip to tip.

Here is what I see from the photos. (90% certain)

The AM seat (not OEM but mostly correct detail), The skid plate and guard, The brake pedal, The flywheel cover, The muffler shield and possibly the muffler, control cables are all from CHP. The muffler if CHP would have the CHP logo embossed at the rear under the shield. The shield looks brand new. The fly cover if CHP would be embossed on the underside. They now have a nice correct AM cover. The OEM K0 and K1 brake pedals and arms are different from each other. CHP only makes the K0. The K1 is beveled around the opening at the mount which makes it wider and thus sticks out further away from the cover/guard.and the arm does not have the welded stop underneath. The arm not as shiny so could be original. The headlight does not have the adjustment screw so must be AM. Has newer OEM Kick start lever. Appears that the key head has been clipped? New OEM switch would have the larger key head. Some clip in order to fit plastic key cover. The fenders are new. Can't tell if OEM. The handlebars are a little tweaked but appear to be original. They look like they have the oval on the back side where the nut is. Your other seat is original recovered. It has the one year K1 low profile Eversoft cushion which appears to be in good shape. (I would buy that if you don't use it.) The CHP seat is easily identified by the higher rear profile. Nice looking bike.
