I'm searching for an original tool kit for my 1971 CT70 HK0. Could someone please confirm the part number? I found a post suggesting it may be #89010-041-000... is that correct? If anyone has a nice original one they want to sell, please contact me. Thanks.

I finally found the tool kit, but it is missing a couple of tools. Never noticed it until I layed 'em out to take a pic. Also, not 100% sure about the bag being original to a CT70. I thought the original bag was a "landscape bag" with 2 snaps whereas what you get today for the same p/n is more of a "portrait" bag with one snap?

It is missing the straight blade screwdriver, 9mm wrench and the the spark plug tool is not correct, but I probably have a correct spark plug tool here somewhere. Regardless, the spare plug tool and screw driver are still available; the 9mm wrench is available from cmsnl.com...but shipping will be more than the wrench.

Drop me a PM if interested. No problem if not. I honestly thought it was complete until inventoried everything.

The bag you have is exactly the same as my '74 TL 125 and '76 MR 250 so it's probably just a later bag. The one in the parts book looks like my 70K0's bag it's a black tag bike with a silver tag horn and tail light wire thru the frame and bolt on tool holder on the seat. That red handle screw driver handle though is an original issue later ones are black.

Thanks Gary, good to know, Well, it looks like the kit I have does include the 2 items that are rare as hen's teeth, and no longer available from CMSNL or other - item 6 & 3. The kit on my HK0 is also missing the 9mm wrench. May hold off until I need something else from CMSNL as to get a little more bang for my shipping $$.

I have an early model HK1(9/71). I have a theory that my toolkit is different than the later HK1/K1 toolkits. I'm pretty sure its the same as an HK0/ko toolkit, except for the bag. Here goes, the way I found it with 477miles.

I found out later that the K1 diagram had an extra driver bit. I ordered it from Honda and it didn't fit the (red) handle. Thats why I think they changed it mid year somewhere. Dont know.

Your bag is in very nice shape compared to my original HKO tool kit. I do have both the #2 & #3 phillips, but appears that neither one of us have the 9mm open end wrench. But honestly, I'm surprised I have as much as I do considering how tattered the bag is and the fact it's 50 years old.

This kit is going in a zip lock bag and not going back on the bike. Never paid a lot of attention to the bag itself until now, and don't recall seeing an era correct bag on e-bay. Or if I did, it did not register.

Looked at few part numbers for the bag used on TL125 and CT70. There are about 4 p/n's of bags so I guess it got superseded over the years by Honda.

Well, Honda was using inventory efficiently. There were a lot of different models which must have been a logistical Rubik's cube for the parts planners.

BTW, I run across a vintage original tool bag (with the complete set of tools still inside) once in a while. They're just as you guys have described...the vinyl is usually quite brittle.

As for the now-rare tools, they might not be as rare as all that. Every piece in the CT70 was available new, somewhere until at least 10 years ago...probably later than that. I was sourcing complete kits, with every tool including...even the red screwdriver handle...well after this board began. The point is that these things are not unobtainium rare...yet, anyway. Might not be easy to find but you know ebay listings

Here is a nice one.. It appears to be dark blue or to the best of my knowledge, from the K1 up era. I kinda remember a charcoal black tool bag for a HK0. IMG_0269.jpg IMG_0270.jpg

I would say there is the same amount of stuff in mine CJ. I have a black replacement handle. Although I am not sweating the red handle just yet Gary. they came with all the different CL models also.
I will wind up selling it one day, it just sits on the shelf and collects dust.

Mine is in a ziplock bag in my shop. The bag itself is in pretty good shape and still pliable, but has some rust stains here and there. It did clean up pretty well later. That pic was when I had pulled it out to check it. I think I was the first to remove it from the seat. I remembering feeling like a lucky duck that the bike still had its toolkit.
