What did you do to your CT70 today

Well that's a good idea, a hybrid CT70 with 70cc's of gas engine + a hidden electric motor!

My "70mph" CT70 is one that I built 30 years ago from a $100 garage sale special CT70Hk0 using parts that were available in the days before repro parts could be found. I had to drive all over to junkyards looking for parts. It had a cracked frame so I got a non-H frame for it...maybe now I should get the correct decals and make it look like an H should look. Anyhow, the bike is not too original but it looks nice and drives great!

Also, my daughter recently made a video about it:

That bike looks really nice, imo. Yeah, it's going to ruffle a few purist feathers...BFD.;) What you've built is more "phantom model" than restomod and those have an appeal all their own.

The seat and throttle asm would be easy enough to swap but why? The K0 seat looks nice wearing K1 trim and the throttle probably works better than the OEM setup. The classic "Honda stripe" is iconic...and goes with the 3-speed frame. Only way to satisfy the purist crowd would be swapping-in a 3-speed motor with a SN +/-300 from the frame VIN. IMHO, it's kinda silly when you think about all that hassle for want of an "H" in the VIN. There's no other difference between a K0 & HK0 frame. If this were mine, I'd leave it as-is and just enjoy it.

Who are these purists? I appreciate a perfect concours restoration or minty survivor as much as the next guy, but we’re talking about 50 year old mini bikes. Is there some forum site I don’t know about that’s hating on all the blasphemous sins that we disrespectful, budget-strapped, fun-loving owners are committing on our own bikes? LOL

Bikes get picked-apart often, right here. That's not a bad thing, either. All of that purist perfection critiquing really does serve a purpose...establishing the CT70 as a marque, with a "100-point" standard. Without that, market valuation, realistic appraisals, agreed value insurance would all be resting on a quicksand foundation. It's also essential for anyone looking to buy a 50 year old bike...a way to make a reasonable estimate of market value, as well as reasonably well-informed decisions on bikes in nearly any condition. It can also be very useful when considering making changes. The "what is it worth?" question comes up frequently; I'm explaining how anyone can work that out on his or her own. Hate is subjective. What I've explained is almost purely objective.

I bet my mom would think that vid reminds her of me and my HK1, since I'm known to have bikes in the house.lol

Your daughter did a great job with this vid and the camera work is very well done.

I took a short ride over to my friends house to see if he had gotten started swapping rear axles on his car, I was surprised that he was almost done. took one pick on my way back home
