Hope this is the right place for an introduction,
Chuck From Indiana.- Retired in 08-- Drag Raced in NHRA till this year.
Always like the CT70's since back in the 70's-Giving away my age.
Have 2 -CT70's- a 1993 - 1 Owner-Original Title--1400 miles- near perfect in all respects and a 1971 CT70 that well? Needs some TLC--Up on the bench and going through it now. Been on here reading every single morning and I thank you for the extended knowledge. I'm sure I'll have a few questions along the way.

Ex drag racer eh? Well that 71 won't stay stock for long ;). Once the bug bites there's no getting better. You have the best of both world one to mess with and a real nice 94 to enjoy

I think I just want to keep these CT's as they came from Japan ! Somethings just deserve to be Original-JMO !
Parts ? Where is the Best pace to source parts for these CT's ?

Your bike has a 1971 date of manufacture but there's no model year declaration for pre-1975 models. Yours is a K1.

No single vendor is likely to have everything you want/need. Some parts are only available as used, restored, or NOS...for those, ebay is the main place to look. For new & reproduction parts: dratv, NEVC (hondanuts.com) and chp are where most go. These are long-established vendors.

Why haven't You Guy's set up a Company to purchase parts @ WD-- Like bulk Purchasing for a Member group if you get my Drift ?

There really isn't enough meat on the bone for vendors to give members from lil honda a discount. It's been brought up before. The parts really aren't as expensive, like performance car/drag car parts. That is the main reason people get into these 50 year old ct70's compared to say a muscle car.

Working on the 71- Couple of questions please !
Build Date is 11/1971--SN # indicates its a 72--Is there a difference when ordering parts ?
New Battery in today--Key has 3 positions - Turned to all 3 and no lights or Horn or Brake lights.
New points and Condenser on the way to check Spark. I don't believe that anyone has ever turned a Bolt on this Keeper- Just Rode 1122 miles and parked or dumped somewhere- All nuts and bolt so far have come off easy.

Headlight is generated by AC so no head light till it's running. It is common that the horn may be bad and the 1154 tail light bulb to be blown. Most likely someone blew most if not all the bulbs by not running the bike without a good battery at some point. The battery acts as a ballast, so not to over charge the ''all'' the 6v bulbs.
The horn and the tail light should work with the key on the 2nd or 3rd position. So you will have to do some testing.

Just remember when you order parts, you are ordering for a K1 model...

Problem solved ! Tail light wires were a little corroded- Cleaned the socket and the bulb works- Horn works to - just a little weak from age and corrosion I guess.

Still at it on My 71 !
Installed the New Points and Condenser--Points set at .014--Correct ?
Spun the Motor over with a Drill and has good Spark at the Plug- Installed the Plug- Primed with a little Fuel and It Fired and Runs, But Spits and Burps a little and won't Throttle up. (Lean ?) The Slow Speed Jet is Clogged-Soaked and tried reaming it with no success -- Ordered a Kit.
Next question ? How do I set the Floats ?

The pilot jet orifice is tiny. And, it's a high-precision part...very difficult to clean, if the blockage is significant. That's why most rebuild kits include a new pilot jet.

The second most important cleaning task involves the emulsion tube/main jet holder. You need to unscrew it, then run a thin wire through every single wall orifice. No amount of chemical cleaning, alone, will do the job. The same conditions that totally clogged the pilot jet are highly likely to have affected the emulsion tube. However, those orifices are larger making total blockage far less likely, harder to recognize...and easier to clean.
