Rust removal on my CT70H

That's good machine rubbing compound, contains a diminishing abrasive. Probably just needs to be shaken well. It's great for polishing paint, I'd not use it on chrome, it'll likely leave scratches, or a haze that won't go away.

Naval jelly is just a thickened mixture containing phosphoric acid. It should work. Results depend upon how extensive the rust is. Once there is visible rust on a chrome plate part, the plating has been eroded all the way through to the base steel. It's never going to be quite right again, unless you have the part rechromed. That said, if the pits are small enough and the plating isn't missing or blistered it may be possible to make the part look decent. Keep it well waxed afterward, to seal-out moisture.

Thankyou! Yeah the rust isn't that bad, just like on the surface. With the 50 year old 3m stuff, it got most of it away

I spent the better part of 2 weeks cleaning the rust from underneath my fenders. I used aluminum foil to scrub and let it sit in vinegar for a couple days. Then polished with a bench grinder the underneath and they look great. It was weird it’s like the rust had spread from the pitted areas to the top of good chrome.

I put the parts in a tub of evaporust. Just need to make sure they are clean since the evaporust can be reused multiple times. Toss it in there and wait a few day. But like Racerx said, if the pits are big or blistered, its only going to help so much.
