Got my new CHP seat- now what?

Went to put it on and ran into problems. For what it's worth I have a early black tag that has some silver tag features - bolt on tool carrier in seat, wire lead for taillight through the frame with grommet.
Problem is that the seat does not tilt far enough forward to support itself or does it tilt forward enough to put gas into it. The front edge of the seat hits the chrome finisher way before the seat becomes vertical. It's almost like the forward seat edge of the pan should be curved in at the area where the seat hits the finishing strip. Anyone else ever have that problem? Any thoughts?

Here are some pictures and yes the seat is firm!

I've used a repop on my HK1 before while the original was being repaired. Yes, its supposed to open up far enough just to get fuel in. Mine too was very firm and thats why I got rid of it. Killed my butt and back after about 1/2 an hour. I'd say that if you weigh over 180, it will work. I have often thought I should have taken the cover off and drilled the big holes in it like the originals. Maybe then it would have worked for me.

I am close to 200 and my XR seat seems comparable so I will just have to see. One thing I have overlooked is my hinge looks to have been cut and welded back together. I wonder if this has something to do with the fit so I have ordered a complete new one to eliminate that variable.

There are at least two styles of seat hinge out there. Problem is, I've never seen that mentioned, let alone addressed. I've run into a similar problem with OEM seats, where the hinge itself was the problem...couldn't open the seat far enough that it'd stay "up". The solution was swapping one "side" of the hinge. That said, if yours has been modded by a PO, all bets are off.

I tried to post a picture of the hinge but had taken it with my phone so the file is too big. Anyway it has been cut across its width so is suspect. Thanks Bob for the heads up on being more than one as well.

I think it's on correctly,I have been leaving it on now and just removing the nuts on the seat side to switch back and forth. Here is a good picture of where it's been cut and welded. I'm only the second owner so what the PO was up to- who knows. The bolt is welded on the seat side of the bracket as well. I bought a new bolt and seat side bracket because I knew that- but was surprised to see the welds on the other one. Placed another order, hurry up and wait :)

Ok got my new hinge half - problem solved! Had no real idea that it had ever been messed but with CT's picture above and now comparing them together you can see the big difference. Now I can put my unmolested bolt on tool box seat away for safe keeping. Wonder why they cut it down,by the seat of my pants it does not feel lower....
Thanks for humoring me- I was thinking I was going to have to send it back.

No by the time I got it and put it together it was cold and late. I will give it a try today.

Just tried it out riding around the yard, so far I like it. Yes it is firm but very similar to my TL or XR.
My German cars have the same seating as well. One noticeable thing to me that with the stronger foam and the higher hinge the seating position does feel higher.

when I put the new seat on the Mighty CT 70 everyone that rode it mentioned how firm or hard the seat was, I thought it was pretty firm too but after it broke in I think it is still too soft for me
