The Project Begins - K3 - My First.

I know he's already commited to a K3 switches and wiring set up so I wanted him to be aware that CHP bars he mentioned he planned to use might require modifications to get the switches to fit. Not sure what his direction was when it came to mirrors.

The later model switches are among a modest list of small parts that can give rise to another level of sub-projects, with their attendant delays & added cost, where purist-type restorations are involved.

The K3 switch unit is unique... difficult, but not impossible, to replace/restore. WTF even knows what handlebar configuration is "correct" for any year/model prior to `79? Even Honda couldn't get the same configuration every time. As for OEM mirrors, 2 more rare parts that would be an expensive nightmare to restore.

It's up to guy doing the project as to whether to cost & effort of sourcing/restoring original parts is worthwhile. With a restomod, or custom, the correct part is whatever the owner says...unlike a purist resto. :39:

Great to see another Syracuse member!
Your project looks like it is coming along very nicely.

Is it going to be a rider? Have you gone through the registration process with it yet? You’re a bit further along than I am with mine but I have my Lifan road ready, we will have to set up a CNY ride this spring I have seen a few other local riders around here.

Keep posting, its threads like this that keep me going on my project!

Thank You Everyone.............

Still struggling with the handlebar issue - no decisions as of yet - waiting for the CHP's to arrive.

"thefox" ---> PM me so we can exchange emails. My first ride will be to 'The Limp Lizard' with my neighbor and his Goldwing.

Limp Lizard is a cool place, a buddy and I (he has a Honda Spree) I finished the season with a ride there and to Dinosaur BBQ. Nothin' like pulling up and parking next to the high dollar Harleys on little bikes.

Not much time available this weekend, but did manage to do a little cosmetics job.

I just didn't like to looks of the rear turn signal mounts with the threads exposed and the exposed wires. Soooooo, more time staring at it, and a few cold ones, I'm happy with the results.

The CHP handlebars arrived today - Took a deep breath and drilled the new holes to re-clock the Kill/H-L Switch into its proper position. The skirt on the switch completely covers the original hole. I did get almost everything assembled today, which is a great feeling. Unfortunately, I had ordered the wrong Brake Lever Pivot Bolts, but that is no big deal. Still need to drill holes and insert collars in the lever perches to support the installation of mirrors. Again, a minor task. Next task is to do all the wiring in the headlight bucket (Note to self, get another bottle of Wild Turkey American Honey).

Next I want to get a set of Chain Falls to rig up a raising and lowering system to remove the K3 from the workstand and get ready to put the K9 up there. I am going to lower the top of the workstand by about 6 inches.

I know everyone want pictures........... I'll try and get come shortly. My butt is dragging at the moment..................

Greetings all that may still be around, and to the new ones since.

Thank you for a wonderful journey of support and encouragement several years ago.

THIS GROUP IS SEEING THIS ANNOUNCEMENT F I R S T.

The time has come to sell the CT70 Driven almost 0 miles since I completed the 3 year, $3,000, Resto-Mod in this thread.

It has been a 100% basement queen since rolled out of the garage for the final time in 2012.

Past visions of grandeur and yet all I do is walk by it in the climate controlled basement.

Hopefully, someone will be able to appreciate it as much as I did building her.

I need to make sure all the photographs are visible and be able to provide a good link.

Hopefully I will be putting the 'For Sale' post together later on today.
