Chinese engine mileage log

OK maybe someone could make this a sticky, so its easy to get to, plus there are no other stickys here.

This thread is to keep a log of how many miles your chinese engine has accumulated. Lets try to keep comments at a minimum, and list only the , Make, Year, Size, and Mileage. We could list also milestone events like, "I just rode 200 miles non-stop and its still going strong:eek: ", or " My engine just rolled over the 500,1000,1500,or 2000 mile mark!:D " I think we may be a bit surprised on what we find.

My Black 2004 Clone had 2 previous motors and about 300 KM before I installed the Zongshen 125 and a MPH speedometer last fall. From now on I will refer to just the mileage on this particular engine.
The speedo is accurate but I think the odometer reads a little bit optimistic but it`s real close. (My $7,000 kawasaki atv odometer is the same way , just not as optimistic, so it`s not just a Chinese thing)
As of this morning -1238 miles on the Zongshen 125
I have taken several 50+ mile rides, gas needed at about 50 miles just to feel safe.

I bought a clone in 2005 from motortoysdirect (ST125) w/ 125 cc engine. Overall pleased and its my daily driver to work (I only live 5 miles out). Engine wise the thing is pretty good, I get 71 MPG w/ a top speed of 52 MPH (verified w/ GPS). I broke the thing in according to the info on Retrobike.com site and now have over 1500 miles. I am having trouble with the rear hub snap ring like others and am in the process of solving that for good no matter what it takes.

The Zongshen 125 on my 2005 CRF-70 is starting to puff some smoke a little bit and also for a minute or so on cold start-up after the bike sits about a week.
I have approximately over 700 miles on it of being ridden mostly with adobe clay stuck to it in 90 degree outside temps.
Most of my rides are 40-80 trail miles in a single day on this bike. The pics show the amount of clay that gets stuck to it. I can stop and clean it off but it comes right back.
I think I may need to invest in an oil cooler and try and make a front fender mudflap for this bike.
Also it may be a bit over full of oil after the last oil change.
So far no plug fouling but there is some blue smoke . I think I may be cooking the valve seals on it or they are hardening  , it still performs to its peak though and there is no noticealbe oil consumption.
On real severe downhill`s of 1/4- 3/4 mile long when I get to the bottom and rev it there will be some smoke, there no smoke after a super long up-hill climb. I suspect a lot of the engine oil is getting gravity forced to the front of the engine and past the valve seals, which would also explain smoke on a cold start after the bike has set for a week

No smoking at all this weekend of riding the CRF-70. I may have just had a bit too much oil in it, as it started the smoke after an oil change.
I rode just over 40 miles on Saturday.

Looks like the season is over for the most part and I have 2100 miles on the bike (Lifan 125cc). I did some carb tuning this summer and the thing ran great. I rode trails in the Black Hills, in town traffic and even on the highway for up to 20 miles at a time at wide open throttle. I'm a believer! :D

Ran a harescramble last weekend with the CRF-70 /zongshen 125.
It has led an extremely rough life this summer , guesstimate 1100 miles of being pounded mercilessly in muddy, hilly terrain of Ohio, West Virginia and Indiana, and is smoking some after going on downhill sections, I think still from slightly overfull oil, but it is still running great.
It does occasionally injest water and some grit from the open element air filter, no way around that in the conditions I ride in.

Loncin 125cc with oil cooler , and mikuni 25mm carb. 350 Kms. of intown traffic stop & go. Not a bad word to say about it. Did 2 oil changes to try and give it a nice start in life. 2nd oil change only showed very small metal particals . Pulls strong lots of torque. Have a 14t -35t gears . This weekend I am changing over to a 15 tooth front sprocket. I want more speed.

I did 2541 kms total this summer with my ("loncin" I was told, but no markings other than a serial number) Did some fine tuning to the carb (mikuni 25mm) began with a 95 main jet & now have a 112.5. City & country road driving only. No trails. Not a bad work to say about this engine. YES it did feel a little weird on the transmission a few times. Felt as though it missed a gear. This happened 3-4 times. Hey ! I tried a honda CBR 125 2007 and it actualy came out of gear twice on me when in 4th. and this was only a 30km run. So what can I say..........the 125 on my ct would take me on some days for 250kms. and would never "fart or burp" I dumped the oil 4 times, and there is not a leak anywhere , still clean as a whistle, not a bad word to say about her.:monkey:

Lifan LF110GY-3 clone, 110cc 1 down/3 up, 18mm Sheng Wey carb.
850km and no problems. Doesn't leak a drop of oil, shifts are crisp, neutral is easy to find. I think it'll be around for many years!

72 CT70K1 with YX160cc engine

0.6kms on engine

kicked it over, split the case in two

common issue it seems

I guess I can say "you told me so"

Maybe time to start looking for a Honda Nice?
