Seafoam in gas...

When i was rebuilding my carb I peeked down into the intake on the head and it was a little dirty...not too bad though.

With that little fuel tank I wonder if I could put a little bit of Seafoam in the tank and have it just go through the carb into the head and eventually the cylinder for a little cleaning....

A lot of folks swear by that on my Harley sites...

Thoughts..?

I've used it on my car. Through my intake manifold, and in my oil, and in the gas tank.

I seemed to work fine with no ill effects. Caused plenty of smoke to shoot out the exhaust, which means it's working :39:

Although if you put it in your oil, just remember to only ride 100 miles or so before draining and filling with clean oil again. and also clean that oil screen.

Use it all the time . . . just an ounce or so in fresh hightest. I also use it when I store them. It will make your exhaust smoke . . . white.

there's only one seafoam that I know of and its only for gas as far as I know. yup just an ouce or so in a full tank of fresh premium gas.
You go to their website to look.

I hear that it also airs up tires but that might be an urban legend. But seriously, you should vigorously clean your tank a la the POR-15 method before you expect miracles from the Sea Foam. Sea Foam is good stuff but it cannot do much for the rust crud that is in many of our fuel tanks - the solvent is better at dissolving varnish. Once the rust sediment gets into the tight spaces, there is not much that can done short of using compressed air and a soft wire probe to clean it out.

Rick...you're right...that's why when i rebuilt the carb i removed the tank, cleaned it up and put on new fuel lines.

So I'm not really seeking a miracle, but more trying to get on a little motor top end clean out via an additive, before the inevitable motor rebuild one of these days...still runs strong no smoke but with a few thousand miles, it's gotta be soon..
