NEEDLE JET SET CT70. I know what the throttle valve & needle assembly
is in the carb. but, what is the thing that's called the Jet Needle.
Is it pressed in the carb? how do you get it out? I'm thinking while I
was cleaning my carb.Jets, and needle jet holder. It might have fallen
out and I never realized it, because I don't remember putting
something like that back in. It's Beatrice Cycle part 60j.(lower right
corner of their picture) I'm not sure if mine is still there. Would the bike still run
without it? Any help would be appreciated.

I think that piece is pressed into the carb body in the throttle opening where the needle drops thru it. If that aint it then I dont know

The "jet needle" is the long, tapered, object in the photo. The "needle jet" is what the jet needle fits into. Jet needles on these carbs are press-fit, so I'd be concerned if one fell out. The engine may run without the needle jet, but it'd run pig-rich.

If the old one is gone, Id be concerned about where it went like into the engine. If its gone & the new one is a loose fit you might be able to epoxy it in. Not going to run well without it

I do see something that looks like that down in there. So mine must still be there. I was wondering if anyone has ever changed one. I would think it is pressed in from the top down and the ridge on it would keep it from going all the way down past where it seats.Beatrice's information on it says. [FONT=arial, helvetica]THIS IS ONE OF THE MOST LOOKED OVER PARTS IN THE CARB, AS IT METERS THE AMOUNT OF FUEL, TO THE AMOUNT OF AIR THE SLIDE LETS IN. IT IS ABOUT THE ONLY PART THAT ACCUALLY WEARS OUT. IF YOUR RUNNING RICH FROM IDLE TO MIDRANGE THEN THIS IS PROBABLY THE REASON. Would they be referring to the needle or seat? or both? I've changed the needle but, never the seat. Would you recommend I take out the seat also? Is it common practice to change both? Thanks again for your input and help.

From what I remember, the needle jet goes in from the fuel bowl side up into the carb body. The needle jet goes in, then the "needle jet holder" screws into the carb body to hold the needle jet in place, then the "main jet" screws into the bottom of the needle jet holder. That's the way it looks on the carb diagrams.

Look at the carb diagram on the Beatrice web site and you'll get a good idea of how it goes together. I'm pretty sure it's a "bottom up" installation, reverse to remove.

Nope, never needed to. Why dont you try it with the old one in there and see how it runs first. That isnt the area that the needle meters fuel in anyway
