Skid plate and kickstand mount

Im sure some of you have dealt with this a ton of times but I replaced my skid plate with one that is not dented all to hell but the newer one I have still doesn't seem to line up very well. Any tricks to getting these on? Also My old skid plate was installed directly to the motor than the kickstand mount over it? Didn't seem right.

No tricks? 2 man job?

Is this a stock Honda bike and motor? I've never had much trouble. One bolt each side in the top holes then two bolts into the motor, on TOP of the f-peg bracket. Then, the last two bolts up top. That's how I do it. The bolts that secure it to the motor should be a little longer than the rearmost bolts that only secure the peg bracket.
