1991 California emmisions version

So I am trying to get my head around this 1991 I purchased. It is the emissions version that the guy I bought it from stripped all the emissions stuff from. So I have all these random hoses and pipe sticking out of the frame and carb and dont know what to do to clean it up. Anyone ever work on one of these or convert it to non emissions?

Are you trying to make it road legal and plated? If not, it will likely just be plugging off vacuum leaks and making an allowance for crankcase ventilation.

Im in Idaho so I dont need to have all the emissions stuff on it to be road legal. Unfortunately he didnt keep any of the OEM parts that he stripped off the bike. Here are some pics of what Im talking about. I have never seen a carb with a vent on top like this.

I not aware of anyplace in the US that requires bikes to pass IM for emissions. Even if that changes, it won't apply to these bikes...they'll be grandfathered.

The emission controls on these bikes were as basic as they get...captive crankcase venting and a non-adjustable carb. There's no reason why you cannot simply convert to an open vent (same as the early models) and run any OEM or aftermarket carb you like, as long as it's sized and jetted correctly.

When you say "non-adjustable carb" is it the jet that is not adjustable? I did notice that the previous owner hammered the air/fuel screw all to hell. Also without tearing the bike apart is that big hose coming out of the frame pictured in my previous post the crankcase vent hose? I am assuming the metal line under the top tube pictured is the fuel tank vent?

I have been looking through the parts fiche but of course they dont show how things go together or that metal tube coming from the frame.
