I happen to run into a 1968 0 miles mint condition Z50 sitting in a bike collection, it has all it's original paperwork including the original bill of sale/receipt.
This bike is in the exact condition it left the dealership, absolutely perfect in condition, never had been started or gasoline put into it's tank.
I am going to make this guy an offer but I would really like a good estimate on it's value so I can barter with this guy.

Wow! He could easily ask 5 or 6 grand for that bike. Maybe more for a slant guard ( one of the first 5200 or so made) if you could get it for 3000 would be a great score IMO. If it's a slantguard lol... under 10.

Is he actually selling it? If not, it could take a large number to buy it. If your description is accurate, I hope you have $6,000 to $10,000 to bargain with.

Wow, you guys are not pulling my leg right ?
You guys got me all excited now...:8:
This old guy bought it new in 1968, not restored, as I described, he has a old picture of himself at the dealer the day he bought it.
He parked in it in his collection of Harley's,BMW's,Norton's,Indian's,BSA's & Triumph's and has sat in the same spot almost the entire time, the carpeting where it sat for all these years has three indentations, two from the tires & one from the stand and from all appearances it appears to be a unrestored original.
I originally went to see/purchase the Triumph Bonneville but when I saw the Z50 I forgot all about it LOL !

If you think that's something you guys have to see his Indian Chief, less than 1,000 original miles, an absolutely gorgeous stunning example.
He is slowly selling off his collection because of health issues and age, he wants the bikes to go to other collectors who are going to treasure them as he did, to tell you the truth, I got the impression that he is not interested in the cash value as to who is going to care for them when he passes.

Can one of you guys either explain in detail the differences between a slant guard & a non slant guard Z50 or maybe post a pic so I know what to look for, THANKS !

The painted steel exhaust guard is not parallel with muffler on a slant guard... the guard is slanted. But the numbers wont lie #105233 Is what I think I've heard or read was the last slantguard. Any vin # above that is NOT a slantguard.

Well I am working out the deal, he's asking $5,000 for the bike, paperwork & photo's.
I will be going back this coming week and will be taking some highly detailed pics of the bike, I will post them here and maybe you guys can clue me in to it's approximate value, I don't mind spending those kinds of greenbacks as long as it's valued at that price or higher, I just don't want ot be taken to the cleaners ;)

I am working on it now, the old man is frail, it's not like I can just go over there and brow beat him, he's bed ridden and I have to converse with him through his daughter, pics are coming, just show some patience please :)

It is NOT a slant guard but the drive chain looks really thin, not as thick as the 420 chain on my CT70, did not see a VIN tag but I could not get close to it because there are big bikes blocking access to it.

There are 4 other people hounding this poor guy about the other bikes and I can clearly see that the daughter is getting fed up with them, I talked to her and we spoke about the other guys and I told her I would not be like that, when she & her father were ready then she could contact me, which settled her nerves a bit.
