Allenp42 helped me with the header wrap and I did mention the weld to the shop. He assured me it would hold. Thanks Kevin

K1 Black Muffler New in 2005 starting to crack

All fixed now, just need a little paint. :) We have a great local Honda shop that only works on old bikes and have been a huge help for issues like this. Thank you all for the help.

    CT70K1 Barely Runs

I was able to clean it all up and looks good now. I replaced and lapped the values and then read afterwards the Clymer manual that says NOT to lap due to special material will be removed and will result in almost instant valve failure. Has any one else had issues after lapping? I used the Dr's...

K1 Black Muffler New in 2005 starting to crack

Thank you all for the replies. This was a huge disappointment and I should of known better using that original packing and not checking for so long. I’ll find someone local to help with the welding starting with a local shop in town that rebuilds old Honda’s. Kevin

K1 Black Muffler New in 2005 starting to crack

Muffler purchased new in Nov 2005 (when they were available) now starting to deteriorate in normal spot. Was really surprised to see this since it has never seen rain, must be from exhaust moisture. Any tips if these can be restored or what others do for normal maintenance? I'm now thinking I...

    CT70K1 Barely Runs

Thanks Racerx. Has really only been sitting ( started only occasionally) for 3 years. Cylinder walls are smooth, but did not do valve job with rebuild. I suspect that is the issue and will get er done. Will clean carb as well. These things take lots to maintain! Will most likely split case...

    CT70K1 Barely Runs

I rebuilt the engine in 2006 and it ran perfectly with start on first kick for many years. Have not been riding much the last few years and now it will not stay running, just sputters. First item was to adjust points, all was good then I removed the head due to a stripped intake bolt to get a...

Vintage bike show. Indianapolis. May 30th.

Mike, are there many small bikes at the show ? I've been going the moto gp and unloading the CT at the BMW dealership on 16th and riding to the track. I can keep up with traffic. Looks like mainly larger bikes on the pictures.

    Keys - cannot identify

Was trying to order a key for an extra helmet lock on hondakeys and ran into an issue. It looks to be an H-5, but its cut on the other side ? I happen to have an old key that fits the lock, but will not open it on the right in the picture (H6039). The other key works on my K1 and will not...

    oil drain issue

Oh no. Would of been easier when apart. I had the same issue and had the local Honda shop put on a helicoil.

    Major Carb Leak

That bike looks really good after seeing it before you put it all together. For me the cast finish is much nicer than paint anyway. Will take some time, but I would get that paint off and properly paint the points and clutch cover with dupli-color Silver (I have some if you want to test it out)...

    Major Carb Leak

If the proper paint was used on your engine it should not of ruined it. Hopefully he used caliper paint or at least coated it with heat resistant enamel.
