    1967 Honda 90 CM91 Ignition/key wiring

Hey All.. Original key switch beyond use. Was able to obtain a replacement switch with 5 leads to a connector, and a 6th wire separate. See photo. Old switch has 5 leads. Wiring diagram identifies the 5 leads as HL, (headlight?), IG (Ignition?), Batt (Battery), SE (?), and DY (?). Does...

    1967 Honda 90 CM91 Ignition/key wiring

Rick... I stand corrected... my old switch is pretty bad. it takes about 20 minutes to get the key inserted and another 30 minutes to wiggle it "just right" so it lock mechanism turns. Not really realistic for everyday use. So i'm back to figuring out how the new switch with 6 wires, can be...

    1967 Honda 90 CM91 Ignition/key wiring

Thanks for the response. The ignition switch works fine. however, one of the bolt attachment holes is broken allowing only one bolt to hold it to the bike. If i could come up with another way to secure it, I wouldn't need the new switch.

    CM91 Rectifier

Rick I found a CM91 wiring diagram. You are correct on the above. I bought a new ignition/key switch. Of course the wiring colors are different than what is on the bike today. It describes the 5 wires as HL (headlight?) IG (Ignition?) SE ( do you know?) DY (do you know?) Bat (battery) can you...

Thanks Rick... I think you've given me enough info to get this right. I'll put an ohm meter on the mystery cable and see where it leads.. my guess the headlight area. I appreciate your help on this... wish me luck :)

    CM91 Rectifier

Thanks Rick. That is a huge help. really appreciate it. couple followup questions. 1) So I should NOT isolate the rectifier from the frame by placing a rubber gasket between them, rather butt it up next to the frame to allow heat transfer to the frame. 2) THe battery for this bike has 2...

I agree. i ordered a new key/switch. I'm planning to "gently" remove the wiring from the switch (if i can) and reconnect to the new switch. Not sure how that will work out but about the only option left since i can't figure out how to "freeup" the old switch so the key will turn.
