    CT70 brake question

OK, more info. I just replaced the rear shoes. I scuffed the drum, and there is no contamination. I definitely cannot lock the rear brake, and I don't want to adjust it so that it binds before braking. I moved the brake lever so that I can adjust it more than before. I haven't replaced the...

    CT70 brake question

I noticed that no matter how much I adjust the brakes on My 70 KO, I cannot get the brakes to brake quicker than a gradual stop. I dont expect stop on a dime performance, but is this normal for the stock brakes?

    Looking for a Speedo

I have a 1971 CT70 which was converted to a Lifan motor and 12v system. During transport, I lost the seal and glass from my speedo. I am looking to replace just the seal and glass, or the whole speedo. I can post a pic later, but it is a black-faced 70 mph speedo. Does anyone have one of...

    CT70 Storage question

I have a restored 1970 CT70 three speed. What is the best way to store this bike to enable it to start and run easily after sitting for a while. It always seems that when I dont run it for a few months, that it takes a long time to get it to run again. Do you recommend Stabil, or draining the...

    Ct70 Not running

I think Ive identified the problem. Looks like the plug wire might have been shorting off the muffler. I moved the wire and it is running. I see what happens next time I try to start it.

    Ct70 Not running

I am still trying to get my 1970 CT70 running again. Last week, I was able to have it running, but now nothing. I have a Lifan motor with a CDI ignition. I am getting strong spark. When I try to start it, no sputter as if its trying to start. I pulled and cleaned the plug, and I just put on...

    Ct70 Starting problem

Big thanks guys I thoroughly cleaned the aftermarket carb and the bike started. The petcock on the carb broke shortly after, so I thoroughly cleaned the original carb. It needs a little tweaking, but it solved my no start issue. Thanks much kirbby and b52bombadier!

I forgot to add, I removed and cleaned the plug, and the ignition is pointless electronic ignition.

    Ct70 Starting problem

Please Help I have a restored 1970 CT70, which was running great until it sat for a while. By a while, I mean about 6 months. The bike is stock except for the Lifan motor. When I tried to start it, it will not turn over without starting fluid. It seems to be getting good spark, and I just...

Whats up with this rebuld guy?

Must be the ebay guy. Tim Housman from Cromwell, Indiana. I had to send my motor back 3 times, and it took weeks of calls in order to have it sent back, and twice there were pieces missing off of the engine. I gave him the benefit of the doubt for a long time. P*** poor work in my opinion...

Whats up with this rebuld guy?

I followed a lead on this forum to have my CT70 motor rebuilt by Tim from Indiana. The first rebuild was sent to me and there was a part lodged behind the flywheel, which stopped the motor from turning. I have to add that during the first rebuild, he did not send me my flywheel engine cover...

Thanks I charged the battery, and all is well now. At last, everything on this bike is working, and it starts and runs! I am waiting for my speedo to come back, and this bike will be done. I also found that the battery wasnt fully seated, allowing the seat pan to knock off the battery...

    Painting the rims ???

You also dont need to clearcoat them unless you want a little more gloss and depth, but its probably unneccessary ---------- Post added at 10:05 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:56 PM ---------- If the underlying paint is in good condition, you dont need to prime them. You can use a red...

Honda ct70 - any "modifications" to help protect my unit in the woods

I have seen mesh headlight guards for other bikes, but you can probably get the materials and fabricate it, and the later CT70s had a different handle bar setup with a brace between them. They were a one piece bar. As far as protecting pedals, I think anything think you would do there would...
