The documentation is real cool. I don't know if it justifies a the $3500 price tag on what looks to be an $800 bike. Most big Andy Griffith fans are probably dead or close to dead themselves. Not that celebrity owned items don't bring more money, this just seems to be a bit extreme.
Wonder why no picture of the motor numbers. Thought the serial number stamping was at an odd angle also but I've seen others around that weren't real straight. This one just appears to be curved. If it's legit it would be a great bike to do a full resto on. Will be watching this one.
I don't see it as a sin at all, but as a smart move. The reason many people have cracked seat pans is because they move the bike around by lifting on the seat. The handle give you a solid mount to prevent such problems.
Sent my buddy in Virginia by to look at this bike with the hope it would be jewel. Needless to say the pictures on the web don't show a lot of the flaws. My buddy took many pics of the flaws and though it's a low mile bike it a low mile bike with a lot of hard miles. $4000 I say not a chance...
Bike looks pretty original to me with the exception of some of the previously mentioned items. The battery looks new that's why the connectors are much brighter. The paint also looks very legit to me. That color will change drastically more then any other CT color depending on the lighting...
That is just a pic of a (3/70) 150 miler I put up for comparison. I have a pic file on that bike. I was glad I had that file when I was putting my buddy's 71K0 back together.
I have a whole file on that bike also when I owned it. Now my buddy has it in his collection with my 59 miler.Check...
I had those on my watch list and was considering the buy it now. Just figured with shipping and all the other stuff their wouldn't be enough profit to keep one and sell the other. I think it was a great deal for the collector that just wants to let them sit. I think $2600-$3000 imo tops is...
Could be a sweet deal for the person who can pick it up in person. Really curious to see how much this will go for especially if the painted frames are good
