Post up a pic of your flywheel/stator setup when you get a chance.

Follow the wire harness and look for the 4wire connector. I would think it should be near the under seat area somewhere.

I traced the wires up from the engine to behind the gas tank area, but did not find that finned aluminum item. I'll dig some more after work tomorrow. Thanks again for the lead.

Kiirrby here is the stator cover, I didn't pop off the cover.

I did find the rectifier, it's below the fuel tank so I have to pull he tank to get at it. Or pull the engine I guess.

I ordered new controls, new rectifier and a 12 volt battery box and battery. Hopefully those items will get me fixed up.

I'll post up when I get everything installed.

Oooh! That does NOT look like a typical 12v stator. Maybe it is a 6v bike. Or maybe someone changed it over to a 6v setup. Sorry. Maybe check some of the installed bulbs. I think they should show the voltage...Stamped into the metal base.

The taillight is a 1157 12 volt, the horn has 12v stamped into it, the parking light is a 194 12v auto dash bulb. I don't remember on the headlight, I'll have to check.

I'll see what happens when I get all the parts installed, and I'll keep you posted!

You don't happen to have a picture of a typical stator handy do you? Those others you posted got me on the right track, thanks again.

That looks closer to mine - it seems to have two coils like that but I can't say for sure without pulling the cover.

Any trick to taking off the cover? I see there's a keyway so that's good, as I don't want to mess up the timing. Do you need a puller or do they come off pretty easy?

I've seen other Chinese 12v/CDI setups that used this type of windowed flywheel. Seems a very safe bet that this is yet another such example. Can you imagine anyone going to the trouble of retrofitting a 6v breaker point alternator & ignition...and making it work?

Good to hear! Yes I am thinking the stator and cover are factory, everything looks "unmolested" under there. My rectifier/regulator looks like the one Kirrbby posted but it's located down under the gas tank.

I've got the parts on order and will post up my results!

Edit - this Lifan 125 motor seems to have the same stator setup I have, so hopefully mine's 12 v and it'll work properly with a new battery and rectifier/regulator.
