Crossed another one off my wish list. Auction score locally from an estate sale. Looks to all be there minus the seat. Still has the original ohtsu tires on it.

Also picked up a pallet of engines. Mostly a lottery ticket gamble, but did come out with a hk0 engine and a cl70 engine, plus a few four speed atc engines. Oh and also a z50 k0 engine, sub 1000 serial number. Oddly that is the third early motor ive picked up locally in the last year or two that was an early tall bar engine.

Bummer. Has a ct70 k0 engine. I didn't even notice the kickstart shaft.

I do have a atc70 k0 motor but it's a first day motor...and it's rough

Assesing the motor today. Have spark and it ran a bit on carb cleaner.
It felt really dry when shifting and would only get the first two gears. I popped the clutch cover and began the inspection.

One of the oil slinger cover screws was loose. No gasket either. Clutch nut was loose. Looks like it has been that way for a few miles. The locking ring appears to have chewed up the nut. Anyone ever seen this type of damage?

Shift shaft return spring wasnt on the tab anymore. I think honda redesigned the spring to prevent this from happening.

Shift drum star screw had worked its way loose, letting it rub on the big gear. This must have been the dry noise i heard.

Yes, I have seen it. Some dingleberry used a hammer and flat blade screwdriver to remove and ''try'' to tighten. Dunno how anyone could put 35 ft lbs on it when tightening? That's why they loosen up quickly.
