looking for comfort?? while enjoying a adult beverage pulled out my 108 cc cylinder to polish the ends of the fins. accidentally dropped it. now have very slight dent on where cylinder drops into cases. can I somehow straighten it or am I screwed.

Yikes...I would think if its on the outer, lower bottom of the cylinder and doesn't affect travel, it could be Ok. You would need to t bench test first. A picture would really help assess the situation.;)

I Decided to paint my 88' cylinder & race head tomorrow with silver enamel High heat formula rattlecan. i'm leary about dropping it or banginging the aliminum head and denting a seal, its easy to do as you have seen. Another easy thing to do is dropping hardware inside the motor, while the top end is apart. That's no fun either.

If it dented the spigot end of the cylinder, replace it. There have been hotspot failures resulting from excess center gasket material distorting the spigot end. Compared to that, yours took a sledgehammer hit.

I didn't want to say it...but I figured that was a fatal mistake. Especially since the stroker crank will pull that piston down deep. It's bound to cause some extra friction...if the piston will even pass thru that spot.

I hear ya, kirrbby...no one wants to be the bearer of bad news. That said, being the bearer of false information, or withholding the truth is worse. In this instance, the cost of a cylinder jug, and the inconvenience of sourcing a new one, will be trivial compared to dealing with the collateral damage & repair/replacement cost resulting from running a distorted cylinder.

yea, kinda figured. thanks for the feedback. don't want to get it together and have issues. could cause damage in crank, rod. will make a nice paper weight.
There's a good chance of damage to the piston & rings from merely inserting the piston into the bore. OTOH, it will deliver more grins & perform flawlessly as a paperweight. ;)

No papers fly because I've screwed up a lot of stuff too...cylinders, pistons heads, carbs, cases, wheel hubs... a plethora of paper weights. I even have a nice stack of crown molding stir sticks.

New part not available to at least July here’s a pic what do you guys think of straightening. And pic of the bike it goes in

The most succinct term is a word that begins with the 6th letter of the alphabet and rhymes with "duct".

Short of having this jug resleeved, it's unusable.

:coffee: It seems to be deviated at the very bottom of the jug.If it were me, it wouldn't hurt to see if that dent doees in fact intererfere with the piston at BDC...bottom dead center. Chances are, it does.;)
But...I would find out, you could get Lucky.:)

I know a long stroker crank, does just that , takes a long-er stroke for it's power. I was told an 88' cylinder with the stroker crank + race head will get you to 108cc. It's the first i ever heard of a 108 cylinder.

Any 63mm tall by... 52mm (or whatever size your piston is) cylinder will work to replace that damaged one. You don't necessarily need the exact same part. If the one you want is unavailable until July, maybe consider a different variety, or vendor.

What cylinder is it...maybe someone has one they would part with.

Mighty good looking bike you have there.
