I have a Giovanni 125cc pitbike engine that's burning oil .I am wondering if anybody knows who made the engine or how to tell the manufacturer ,or if I might be able to use a lifan top end on it as it appears the engines are fairly universal .Also ,I want to use it in my 72 ct70 ,but the gio didn't have provisions for lighting ,just wondering if there is a stater available with a lighting coil that I can use or adapt to it .Thanks

I read on another thread that these are Zhongshen motors, FWIW.

Your probably better off buying another 200 dollar 125 complete engine.
These are engines are like bic lighters,if it runs out of juice it's cheaper to go to the store and buy another instead of trying to refill it.

your probably right ,I am in Canada though so $200.00 engines are few and far between .I do have a 110cc full auto, electric start engine as well ,never been run ,but just cant figure out if it would be fun at all .

Where do you find engines for $200? I can't find anything for less than $350.

I just found and bought a "bush bear 110 cc ' bike with no front end or wheels running for $60.00 .It has a kick start, top mounted electric start ,and is semi-auto .Not sure who made the engine though ,will figure that out in time I guess

The Gio is a Zongshen (or at least the many I have seen are).

You can't rebuild the top end for the cost of a complete engine, not a complete overhaul anyway.

There are some American sellers that are near to the border that can keep the shipping reasonable. The Piranha 140 is an excellent choice.

Pull the top end and measure the bore, cylinder height and wristpin diameter. I'll bet you can get a jug & slug for cheap.

I never get lucky on ebay. A Mopar friend of mine seems to find everything. Too bad he won't search for me...
