Does anyone know of a way to bench test the trani before reassembly on crank cases?? I think I’ve got it right but it doesn’t consistently shift correctly on bench ? The drum stopper sometimes stops between gears. Does the motor need to be running to test accurately?? Hate to reassembly & find out something is wrong in there? Thanks for any advice

I’m no expert but both motors I have rebuilt a K5 50 and K1 70 did not shift correctly on the bench but after I put them in the bikes and were running they shifted just fine.

Most of these transmissions don't like to bench shift. They need rotation to get things moving. I bench-test by spinning the primary driven gear (or just the mainshaft, gear removed, if the crank & clutch have been installed), located on the transmission mainshaft; that has worked well, simulating normal rotational input.
