1969 CT70 Ignition switch on a 1981 ST70

Hi guys. I'm restoring a 1981 St70 Dax and since the original ignition switch is almost impossible to find, I got a1969 ct70 switch.
I know very very little about wiring etc, but seeing the diagrams here, there seems to be a major difference on the switching arrangement between these two switches.
And to make things worse, the CT switch has an extra wire.

Questions are... is there a way to tweak the arrangement? Anything to do on the wiring so I don't have to take the switch apart?
Or just simply... how screwed am I?

Yeah sorry about that.
I think the 81 ST 70 may have only a 4 wire ignition switch? Does that seem right? I looked on CMSNL website and they show a 4 wire replacement keyswitch. For the 80’s st 70’s

Do you have wiring diagram specific to the 1981 ST 70? I have 1980 and 1983 CT 70 and they are both 4 wire. The Honda manual has what I believe to be an older wiring diagram for the st 70.

If you are using and older version wiring diagram that is not specific to your year that could be an issue.
 
Hey! First of all, thanks for taking the time to reply.

The original 81 ST70 ignition switch has 6 wires coming out of it. Those are RED - WHITE/RED - BLUE - BROWN - YELLOW - BLACK.
The one I have, for a CT70 1969, is a 7 wire switch. Its colours are: RED - BROWN/RED - BROWN - BLUE - YELLOW - BLACK - GREEN (this last one comes separated from the brown round connector)

I actually came across a wiring diagram for a CT70, which uses the ignition switch that I have, but I'm not sure if I can use it for my ST70.
I'll leave it here along with the original 1981 ST70 diagram you were asking me about.

I know very little about electronics, wiring etc, but one of the major differences I can clearly see between the who is that the CT has no freakin turn signals, so it also has no winker relay. Other than that, they look pretty similar to me.

Do you think there might be a way to combine the two diagrams to make it work?

It’s unlikely that your early model CT 70 switch will work with your wiring harness? I’ve tried to use them with later model wiring harnesses and all I wound up with was blown fuses at the battery! Just have extra fuses on hand if you do try it.

CMSNL has the keyswitchs in stock that you require. You may have to pay up for one from them? I’ve bought product from them and it’s pricey with the shipping and exchange etc.

ouch. Yeah, that makes sense. The thing is I live in argentina, and buying something from overseas is next to impossible. It just gets stuck in customs and you never get it back!

So, last question: Is there ANY way to modify the switch itself so that it does what it's supposed to do on a 1981 st70?

This is CT70...K0 and K1 switches. I think the K1-76 type might work for you.

Hi! Thanks for the help and for taking the time to take the photos.

What I would like to know is if there's a wiring diagram that would be "adaptable" and uses the switch that I already have.
Or, as an alternative, If there's a way to take the switch apart and re-arrange it, even if it requires major surgery.
