Dumb question but can I just clip the plug off my existing and add the spade connectors??

That's exactly how you do it. Cut close as you can to the old battery, because you need the battery harness.

Ok I got the new seat cover on, carb cleaned/rebuilt, new fuel lines and new battery installed. The headlight did not come on with the key so I’ll have to look into that but for now I’m ready to pull the brake cables off for a lube and I’d like to replace the throttle cable. It appears to have a slight gouge and it doesn’t move freely. Again my manual shows nothing about removing that throttle to replace the cable.Guess I’ll check YouTube.

Found what I was looking for along with plenty of other information. I also found a vid about an aftermarket fix for anemic throttle return. Has anyone used one of those products?

The headlight will only come on when the motor is running and the key in the lights on position as it runs off the A/C side of the light coil..

The headlight is A/C powered, it's only on when the bike is running.

That makes sense. I suppose I should look at the wiring diagram. That’s the great thing about me using these forums. If I just think a minute I can answer my own dumb question.
