you guys rock, especially Kirrbby!! thank you very much for your insight, patience and ..your time..
after i flipped the point cam 180, third kick...it started, need to look more closely for that odd misfire... fuel related??, will double check all things sparkish as well!

I'm not anticipating any problems when i remove the coil jumper wire and plug the harness back in, but I may be back to bug you again....

if you every need any support on Yamaha Grizzly's or Stihl Chainsaws lemme know..

Good stuff Walt. Glad you got her running. I can't seem to get your video to play on my phone. I'll try it on the laptop later.

Now that you have life, you'll be able to get it tuned in...I think you're gonna love it.

Congrats, you've gotta be a happier camper now.

Somewhat ironically, I'm on the keep-it-basic side of the fence with this one. Not to say "I told you so", back in post #35, but by that stage, you had eliminated everything else. My point being that flipping the advance assembly 180-degrees was easy...two mounting screws...and quicker than anything else.

There are times when it's not necessary to go beyond a thumbnail detail. It's pretty easy to see that the engine has good compression. Any idea why I said this?

Next suggestion is the go back into the carb and clean the emulsion tube properly. Assuming that a rebuild kit has been installed, both the pilot and main jets should be new.

With most engine issues, it does pay to take the technical/precision approach. The key to smooth sailing is learning how to distinguish which makes the most sense, in any given circumstance. It's a learning curve and you're now significantly further along than you were just a few days ago.

completely agree, got a bit sidetracked with the intake valve issue, despite good compression, but we got it! will be back into the carb today for a thorough cleaning. thanks again very much!

Good morning!!!! thanks again for your help!!! another question please...
we squared away the fuel issue, ran the bike up and down the street with the jumper from the magneto directly to the coil..

    runs great!!
However....when we connect the magneto back into the wiring harness, no spark, I have the wiring diagram and am ready to jump in but, where would you look first??? thoughts please...

Do you have a battery in the carrier, with the black lead in the connector? If not, the ignition circuit is open.

That was actually a test question to keep you on your toes!!!
    Absolutely correct...
    Jumpered the black wires zowwwweeeee!

Thanks again...onward and upward...! Have a great afternoon...
Oh..still understanding that unless owner sprngs for a battery, max output from stator, overvoltage to head and taillights, short life..any other ill effects?
