1974 K3 Value ?

I have a 1974 K3 that I'm thinking of selling. None of my nephews, etc. seem to want it. I have looked at ads on FB, Craigslist, etc. and rarely see a K3 for sale. So I'm curious as to why that is. Are they special rare? I know it's the first year with turn signals, no left side brake, and has the most chrome but other than that anything special? As far as I know, the only deviation from stock on mine is the chromed chain guard. Currently licensed in California. I'm about 3 hours north of San Francisco. Any ideas on pricing ? $2500? More? Less? Thanks.

That is one cleeean K3. How much has been restored?
The chrome aftermarket chain guard isn't helping resale. At the same time, it's not exactly a fatal flaw, either. That's a tough item to keep unblemished. The chrome looks good and is more practical than the original painted guard, but it will cost a few points with purists.

At $2500, I think this bike will sell rapidamente ;)

Most of the restoration was just cosmetic. I purchased it 10 years ago with 600 miles on it. Had sat in a garage for 36 years next to a 36 year old Mercedes. I replaced all lenses, cleaned up wheels, and new seat. Thanks for the compliment.

You should mention this, with lots of details, in your "for sale" listing. Seriously, it makes the mileage nearly irrelevant...where it would normally be seen as just another "high-mileage" K3. This bike is a great (and rare) example of just how durable these machines are and how well they can hold up with reasonable care and timely maintenance. There is no reason it could still be in this condition 10,000+ miles from now, if the care & maintenance is continued.

I just bought a K3 with lower mileage but not in that great condition. Mine will never look that good. Beautiful bike.

I’m tearing it down now. it was definitely not stored / cared for like yours.

Good luck on sale.
